5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Better
I been using Hoppe's since the fifties and I owned many handguns and rifles/shotguns.
There are many cleaning products out there and I'm sure most are good cleaners.
Hoppe's has been cleaning the grim, carbon from these guns without failure for years.
Ya, I like the smell.. but I really like the great job this old cleaner does on my guns.
You can't...

3.0 out of 5 stars Was my bottle an old one? Hmmmmm....
I received my quart bottle intact and well within the promised time limit- however it arrives in a plastic bottle (per normal and as I expected despite the illustration)and the plastic was 'caved in' or in other words looked dented on one side in appearance, suggestive of what happens when volatile liquids are stored in plastic for a long time- they cave in as the liquid...

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic product., March 3, 2008
The classics never die!. My family has been using Hoppe's since the 1960's. It works and works well. And while it may sound odd, I even like the smell. It reminds me of spending time with my Dad in my younger days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long time favorite firearms cleaner, August 11, 2010

What can be said about Hoppes #9. It's been used by gunowners for years and years. I grew up on the smell of this, and if I could get away with it, I'd use it as after shave too. Cleans bores, and parts as good as any out there, as far as powder, and it's residue. You might want another accessory type for copper residue. I've used it since a kid, and still go for it, as I suspect 99% of gunowners do, or at least have some or had some. Until something proves itself vastly superior, I'll be loyal to Hoppes #9

This is a great all purpose cleaner/coater. A little bit will go a LONG way, and there is plenty here! Worked great cleaning my Beretta 92-FS, even after several hundred rounds of build up (I know, I need to take better care, right).

It works! No sense buying the small bottles because it doesn't spoil. I replaced the cap on mine with a sprayer so that I don't have to put patches into the bottle.

Well, it's just that - it worked great on every long gun I tried it on. I still prefer Hoppe's Elite for my handguns but N9 has always been my number 1 choice for cleaning shotguns and rifles. "Breakfree" works well too but for me it's more on the lubricating and storage side but that's just me. Great product. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff, February 26, 2008

Great stuff. Works like nothing else as a cleaner but beware, there is a very strong smell associated with this stuff. Imagine the smell of gas and using it to clean your guns and you have a good idea of the smell this produces. Still, nothing is better at actually "cleaning" those guns.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hoppe's solvent - not benchrest, January 22, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hoppe's No. 9 Powder Solvent, 1 Quart Bottle (Sports)
I just wanted to make it clear... the product is as-described in the ad but it is NOT the same product that is pictured in the ad.

To be clear, the product I received is the standard Hoppe's No.9 solvent, NOT the Benchrest copper solvent that is pictured.

The product itself is fine which is why I rated 4-stars; I have no problem keeping the 1 quart bottle of standard solvent since I'm sure I will use it... I'm just a bit disappointed since I thought I would be receiving the benchrest solution but received the standard No.9 solvent instead (which I already have plenty of).

Photo in advertisement is incorrect. Product arrived fast. Bottle was plastic & deformed. Looked like it had been in a vaccuum but seal was still in tact. I thought that it was short (not 1 qt of liquid) so I poured the contents into my old glass bottle. Volume was exact. I guess they ship in plastic to prevent breakage now.
