4.0 out of 5 stars I LIKE
I just want to say that this is a fantastic album. I've been trying to think of a more appropriate way to say it, but I keep coming back to the same thing - It's Fantastic. I love it - it is the epitemy of what rnb should be living up to.

Everything from the lyrics (to most tracks), to the vocals, to the production. The great thing about this album is that it takes...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that great an album, but worth it alone for "Taste Your Love"
There were lots of singers like him, and many of them had better albums to brag about, but this is still worth getting for his one big hit "Taste Your Love" a dreamy, if somewhat unrestrained sexcapade.

Note: Although this album was released in 1996, "Taste Your Love" was actually getting radio airplay as early as October of 1994.

4.0 out of 5 stars I LIKE, May 23, 2000

I just want to say that this is a fantastic album. I've been trying to think of a more appropriate way to say it, but I keep coming back to the same thing - It's Fantastic. I love it - it is the epitemy of what rnb should be living up to.

Everything from the lyrics (to most tracks), to the vocals, to the production. The great thing about this album is that it takes something of a bitter attitude towards love, with most of the tracks centering around a guy who loves his best friends girl; or, a guy who can't forgive his girl for cheating; or, a couple whose relationship is falling apart. Not the most exciting of topics, but the sombre lyrics suit the production style, and gives off a general mood (a dark one at that).

Top tracks include: "Why Why Why"; "How can we stop"; "Things We do for love"; "I want u babe"; "Trippin"; "Gotta Find a way"; "Let me know"; and, "I Like"

Yup, that's pretty much every track.

The only reason it misses out on 5 stars is because of tracks like "One 4 the Money" "U need a man" "Enjoy" and to a lesser extent "Taste ur Love" - they don't really fit the rest of the album top one's, but I love it nonetheless. HB come back! rnb needs u!

Thanx 4 ur time!

I think this was a good debut effort from Horace Brown and even if I didn't own this album I would buy it just for the tracks "Things We Do For Love","Just Let Me Know","Why,Why,Why" and "I Want You Baby".

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent album!, July 23, 2005
This review is from: Horace Brown (Audio CD)
Why Horace Brown didn't get the push he got with this album is beyond me! This is such a soulful driven album. Horace delivers on many of the songs, including Gotta Find a Way, Things We Do For Love, Think About You (that funky Puff Daddy-produced song), and many others. The efforts from Dave Hall, Puffy, Kevin Deane and others here are some dynamically done R&B songs with shades of hip-hop beats within it. The ballads have a mellow tone to them and Horace sings them nicely. Horace was promising on this debut and why he hasn't gotten the big break he wants is beyond me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gold Dust, July 20, 2003

How can i describe such an album? .... Ultimate Rnb Gold.
This album is timeless, i bought it back in 1996 its still sounds good today. Top track is Why, Why, Why, Horace Brown was the only one around with emough guts to write this track, it puts the listener in a trance, you really start to feel what he's talking about. Another is Taste Your Love, Horace seems to concentrate on the darker side of love. Like wanting your best friend's girlfiend, oral sex (Taste Your Love)Cheating (Things We Do For Love), Gotta Find A Way is letting go of a girlfiend. Horace Brown nailed it the first go, a proper rnb record, pity he did not release another, if you don't have this CD, you into commercial rnb and that a load of Ashanti. Perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a shame........, March 31, 2010
This review is from: Horace Brown (Audio CD)
I was listing to the music channel in the cable line up and they played 'Taste Your Love' and it sounded cool, I went to the computer and sampled the cd and I couldn't believe how tight this cd was. I know it's old but it's still off the chain. This cd has so many good songs on it so I downloaded it. This cat has skills and he uses them to lay down up beat tracks like 'One for the Money' to mellow tracks like 'How can we Stop'. I wish he was still making music (like he did on this cd, not try to cross over) all they ever played on the radio was 'One for the Money' you never heard anything else unless you bought the cd, all I can say is what a shame, he didn't get more air play back in the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHERE HAS THIS GREAT TALENT GONE?, March 7, 2000

CYNTHIA (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews

I BOUGHT THIS CD THE DAY IT CAME OUT (BACK IN 96) I'VE GOT OVER 500 CD'S AND IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES. I HAVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY, HOPING THAT A NEW ALBUM BY THIS ARTIST WOULD SURFACE....TO N0 AVAIL. IF ANYONE, AND I DO MEAN "ANYONE" KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HIM GIVE A SHOUT OUT AND LET A SISTA KNOW WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON. IT IS JUST A SHAME THAT "ARTIST" (FOR LACK OF A BETTER NAME), THAT HAVE NO STYLE, NO CLASS AND DEFINATELY NO TALENT KEEP DROPPING CD'S LEFT AND RIGHT, WHILE THE ONE'S THAT TRUE FANS ARE FIENDING FOR DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A TRACE. IT USED TO BE THAT YOU COULD HEAR A SONG ON THE RADIO AND TELL WHO IT WAS BY LISTENING TO THE VOICES. NOT ANY MORE. THERE ARE WAY TOOOOOO MANY GROUP OUT NOW TO KEEP TRACK OF WHO'S WHO. LET'S GET RID OF THE TALENTED WANT-TO-BE'S, AND DEDICATE OUR TIME TO SUPPORTING THE TRUE TALENTS OF THE INDUSTRY.
