I've been a fan of Eyvind Earle for a few years now (I discovered his art the year after he died) and was glad to find this book. The diary he kept on his bike ride across the country (included in this book) is more intimate than the rest of the book, it shows more of how he thinks and feels. I also liked his quote near the end of the book when he was looking at a house, trying to decide whether to buy it. He looked at the view out the back and immediately said he could paint 200 paintings just from what he saw there.
There are some black and white sketches, mostly in his cross-country diary, but nothing in color. I would have enjoyed more pictures, but it might have distracted from his story - and it's a very good story.
