About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.

From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.

While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Expect louder than normal noises but those should fade with use.

It gets used about 5-6 times per week and it's holding up pretty great for only having it a month or so.

It left a lot out, which is why I was on it for 2 hours, trying to figure things out.

If you're taking the time to read review after review here at Amazon, take a little more and look to other sources of information on the web (like[...]) or review magazines. And definately get into a store and jump on a few. After doing plenty of reading, a couple of visits to stores, and a realistic view of what I would be doing with a treadmill I decided I needed to have a 60" deck (I'm 6'3") and could use a budget machine (more on that below). I had a hard time deciding between this treadmill (T203), Pro-Form 995, and Schwinn 860. What it came down to was this one was flat out cheapest and was available on Amazon.

If you're a serious runner or buying for one, move along. At this price level the machines just don't have the mass of a treadmill that would be comfortable for running for an hour or more or real fast. That type of mill won't fold, will weigh 300lb+, and you're talking big bucks. I'm more into walking and a nice 5-6 mph jog for 20-30 mins, and the T203 has fit the bill so far (2 whole days) setup in front of a TV. Once in a while I'll bump up the speed and stride it out, and this treadmill does fine but it can't compare to a really heavy machine for stability or oviously just running outside. The 12 mph speed this (and most) treadmill can do is ludicrous. Who runs that fast let alone indoors.

The packaging was quite efficient, not much fluff around the edges so no reason to take it out before lugging up or downstairs. The shipper brought it into my house and I got it into my basement by myself. But I've been eating my Wheaties, most folks will want help since it's about 240lbs in the box.

Setup was fine, all screws went in with no drama and took about 30 mins.

I'm so pleased with this treadmill. It gets used about 5-6 times per week and it's holding up pretty great for only having it a month or so. It's very comfortable on the joints and the "cushion" it provides really does make a big difference.

I compared this to the Horizon Fitness T202, but ultimately decided on this one because it had a 60 inch track (very long), goes to an incline of 12%, goes up to 12 MPH, has greater horsepower, and has an extra year on the warranty.

This thing is HEAVY! It took two people to get it up 3 flights of stairs, but it was packaged very nicely. Assembly was very easy, except for the fact that the manual said that everything was set perfect by the manufacturer--but then when you finish assembling everything it tells you to take it all apart and lubricate. That is a pain because you have to recenter, re-level, and retighten everything.

The iPod controls are great, although if you listen using a third party app instead of the iPod app, the volume is not loud enough. This sounds like an iPod problem, but this treadmill has no volume control, it's all interfaced through the iPod. Volume level 16 is the highest and it doesn't get very loud.

The treadmill does tend to shake the whole house, but that can be solved by placing the incline at 1% to absorb the impact.

Overall, this is absolutely the best treadmill for $1,000. It has the most features, the most horse power, the longest deck, and the best comfort in that price range. I also experimented with the lower quality Merit, Proform, Nortictrack, and Bowflex. This one is the most impressive for the cost.

I walk at work for up to 6 hours a day. Noise level of the 203 is low which helps. I have been able to put a 2x3 foot half inch thick plank on the arms for a laptop etc. My wife and I have done some 10 min pace jogging and it has done ok well with this, seems sturdy, did squeak at first before the walking spread out the silicon better. I loosened the belt a little on one side but overall alignment good. We live in a remote area so hoping no work needed for along time!

I purchased this product after looking at numberous models, primarily because it was the only only one that had a custom program option.

I had to drive 2 hours to find one in a store to look at it, as I did not want to buy online without seeing it, standing on it, and looking at it.

I spent two hours on the treadmill at the store. I had printed out the owner's manual and taken it with me. The owner's manual is not very good, in my opinion. It left a lot out, which is why I was on it for 2 hours, trying to figure things out.

When I finally did figure it out, I was very pleased with this choice.

This unit has three separate LCD displays. The main display is in the center and much larger than the other two. All three worked great on the treadmill at the store. But the 'contrast' of the main display on the treadmill that I received is about half as sharp and bright as the other two, smaller displays. This is a pain. I do not believe it is working correctly.

The support company responded quickly and sent a technician out two times to try to fix it. It is still not fixed. Again, the display contrast on the treadmill at the store was perfect. The technician tried to tell me a bunch of stupid things to explain it - things that were just plain illogical...like the ambient light is different around the main display...even though the main display is between the other two and only about 1 inch away!

In summary, I like the treadmill, the specifications and the custom program. But I am very disappointed with the contrast on the main display.
