Horizon MiniPak Handheld Fuel Cell Power Supply: Introducing the MiniPak Personal Power Center. Horizon is combining its consumer fuel cell know how with new fuel cartridge technologies to form a new portable power device named MiniPak. The MiniPak includes a passive air-breathing fuel cell, able to draw hydrogen stored as solid hydride inside the specially designed Hydrostik cartridge. This device is a universal portable power charger and power extender compatible with a variety of portable electronics. The MiniPak is positioned to address gaps in providing energy on the go, for power-hungry device users, as well to provide as a low cost energy storage option for emergencies and long duration off-grid power users. Devices compatible with the MiniPak include: cell phones and smart phones (including iPhones, Blackberry, Nokia, Motorola, LA, HTC, Samsung, Sony and more), GPS handhelds and MP3 players, as well as all USB gadgets such as USB lighting devices, USB fans, USB speaker systems for MP3 players or smart-phones, and many more. The MiniPak DC power output is up to 2W, delivered through a standard micro-USB port. Horizon also designed a compatible desktop hydrogen cartridge refueling system called, the Hydrofill - which is available as a separate accessory. Although the standard Hydrofill plugs into the grid, a small-scale solar or wind power solution is also another option for renewable hydrogen generation. The Horizon MiniPak does not contain any mercury, cadmium or lead. It is also transportable for on-board aircraft cabins, thanks to recent legislation approval on Metal hydride devices. While a cartridge replacement and filling infrastructure develops, Horizon has taken the extra step to develop a home refueling system called "HydroFill" - sold as a separate accessory for added convenience. The MiniPak is positioned to address gaps in providing energy "on the go" for power-hungry device users, as well to provides a low cost energy storage option for emergencies and long duration off-grid power users.
