I purchased this for my 14 year old son as a graduation present. Ever since we had the opportunity to test drive GM's Equinox Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle he has been begging us to buy this. He loves watching the hydrogen being made and filling the car and running the car. Best of all you don,t need to use batteries. It can make the hydrogen using solar. Real world technology is fun! My son loves it!!!!!!!

Didn't work. Even the first time. Do not waste your money. The fuel cell comes in a foil-type, ziplock-type bag. Apparently the fuel cell needs to be placed in the bag if you are not using it within a few days (it needs to stay "moist"/not dry out). I don't know how you are suppose to do that once it's assembled. Completely impractical. DO NOT PURCHASE!!!

I bought this for my nephew for Christmas with high expectations. I thought it would be the perfect gift for my science minded nephew and it was until we actually tried to use it. There wasn't enough sunlight (in winter at our high latitude) for it to convert the water to hydrogen. If there had been it would have taken 10 minutes versus the one minute it would take 2 AA batteries. So the basic point of the toy is shown to be wholly inefficient. So never mind that you're better off not even using the solar panel, the balloon filled up with hydrogen and actual play time was 1 minute and then you have to refill it. The thing didn't even turn. If you got any standard remote control car powered by batteries you could play with it for a week. It's a nice idea, but the execution is crap!
