Dimitri Tiomkin showed a great deal of skill and I think anyone.....even today, will appreciate him more by listening to this sound track. I have to admit I hadn't really isolated much of his music when watching the film...as the score is so successfully wedded to the images... The only other film I saw this done successfully was "Alexander Nevsky".

There are three tracks added which are directly from the film with the children singing "Lullaby and Goodnight" and a very funny "Here We Come Gathering Nuts in May"... by the way, the CD cover mispells "nuts" twice....

Anyone who loves "Lost Horizon" should own this CD!!!!

I am very happy to have found this album. My wife has been searching for this sound track for ages now. She had the original LP but got lost. It's a classic you will surely love.

For a recorded film score this is a rare find in that it is the sound track score as heard in the film and not a re-recording or a re-editing. Unfortunately, it is, as the film's sound track, in low-fidelity and rather 'tinny,' but with a good playback system, much of this can be reduced. For those who love 'old' films with wonderfully romantic scores, this is well worth acquiring while the supply lasts. The score is most unlike Tiomkin's later scores which are so easily identifiable as his.
