I have to say I wasn't to thrilled with the last album by Anubis Gate, but this album has made up for that after a few listen's I'm convinced that we are getting one of their best albums to date! Soaring and Awesome Harmonies, superb guitar playing, sick riffing
( check out the intro on "Hear My Call" ) makes your neck hurt from head banging. then kicks in some beautiful clean guitars and acoustic passages ( my favorite song on the album ) The production and mastering is well done you can hear every instrument!
and there is some nice depth to bass and drums. "Revolution Come Undone" is a thrash in your face riff monster song. This is an album you will have to sit and give a few listens to really appreciate and absorb, yet very easy to get into! This is going to be one of the best prog albums of the year. The 2 songs I mentioned are my favorites along with "HORIZONS" "A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM"
a 14 minute Metal Opus masterpiece lots of twists and turns, but it never loses your interest, and man when you hit the 12:00 minute mark! Superb! this is one Prog Metal Album that needs to be on your list this year!!

My expectations were a little lower going into this CD and not because I thought the previous was release was bad, but it just took me some time to adjust to Henrik at the helm of vocals and it just didn't capture me the same way Andromeda Unchained and The Detached did. It took me a few listens to really absorb everything on this CD and overall I'm very happy with this release.

The big thing that I felt was missing from the self titled and plays a pivotal role on this CD is the unique spacey soundscapes. They appear across the entire CD, but don't feel over layered or added in spots for the sake of it. Everything just kind of flows through smoothly with the placement of the track order.

Favorites:
Hear My Call
Airways (I tend to go back to this one a lot)
Revolution Come Undone
Breach of Faith
Horizons
A Dream Within a Dream

Dislikes:
I don't really have any. A picky side note though and it's the only thing I wish made an appearance (besides a Jacob guest vocal). From the Andromeda Unchained/The Detached era, Morten Sørensen #1 used to occasionally throw in these killer kick drum/tom fills, especially on the track Pyramids and I would revisit the tracks just to hear those parts again. I thought Morten Sørensen's #2 drumming was great on the record, but I was craving just one ridiculous drum fill after a few play backs but just couldn't find one. Regardless, great CD and looking forward to seeing where the future takes the band.

Been a fan of these guys from the beginning and they never let me down. NIGHTMARE RECORDS just released one of the biggest releases of the year !! Musicianship, melodies, and production are excellent! Any progressive metal fan should absolutely fall in metal heaven with this album. 2014 is looking awesome and Lance King of Nightmare Records just made my year by releasing 2 huge releases..including Teramaze. Buy this CD today and you will thank me later!!!

Fantastic album. Anubis Gate continues to expand their musical borders with this latest release. Every song on it is very progressive. The songwriting is out of this world and the vocal melodies are simply amazing. It leaves me wondering where they will go next to amaze and entrance their fans. GET IT!

Anubis Gate is an unusual band. Not only have they had several different stylistic changes over the span of their decade old career, and they have endured some vocal changes as well, yet all in the name of constant improvement. Co-producer Jacob Hansen handed over the vocal reigns to bassist Henrik Fevre on the last release which turned out to be the right decision as the self-titled skyrocketed the band into notoriety. Horizons is a solid follow up to that stellar release as the style has now stabilized into a fusion of emotive vocals and progressive metal with a definite modern vibe. While comparisons aren’t quite fair, Voyager would be the closest in style. They do a great job of mixing it up, giving the piano a greater voice in the mix this time around and Morten Sorensen on drums turns in another excellent, yet slightly restrained performance. I give AG a lot of credit for the fact that they don’t mimic anyone really, especially not the melodic progressive metal of Dream Theater. And the lyrics are really solid as well. This time around there is an explanation in the liner notes preceding each song which I think really helps, especially when the material can be quite heady. I think the only observation to the negative – and something that may or may not hold this band back – is the somewhat restrained nature of their sound. They are very innovative, yet they don’t evoke the same degree of emotion as a band like Voyager. Still, I applaud what they’ve been able to do with these last two releases, and while not quite as immediately endearing as the self-titled release, Horizons – with repeated listens – reveals a band at the top of their craft.
