The Babes Rock and I Roll with Laughter,
By
This review is from: Hormonal Imbalance (Audio CD)
The Washington Post raved about the Four Bitchin' Babes in concert, so I bought the CD. I was amazed with each song how insightful they are about midlife maladies, how talented musically, and beautiful the harmonies. I was laughing out loud through most of the CD! A few songs on the serious side nearly brought me to tears. Bought four copies for me and my best friends. Now I want to get more for my sisters! Support the Babes! Buy their CDs! They are a hoot!

Gift Worthy!,

This CD is so outstanding that after I heard it at a friend's, I bought one for myself. Then after hearing the entire album, I bought 6 more to give as gifts to girlfriends! All of the songs are funny and touching....yet one is so poignant, it almost doesn't belong on this album. Which artist sings "Faces On My Wall?" It will stay with me forever.

This lineup of the Babes produces an excellent disc. They open with Babe-emeritus Christine Lavin's "Oh No" about a person who keeps misplacing things from eyeglasses to purses. Deidre Flint's ode to a "Cheerleader" puts your face in a perpetual smile, "Cheerleaders drive Camaros; Cheerleaders don't date geeks & everybody think it's really cute the way she has to S-P-L-L everything she speaks." Nancy Moran's "Honestly!" is hilariously petulant, "I'm tired of all the driving; I'm tired of all the bullsh..; I'm tired of knowing when to keep my big mouth shut; I'm tired & I'm cranky; and I'm just getting started 'cause I'm tired of kissing everybody's you-know-what." Deidre Flint's "The Boob Fairy" hinges on a premise that like the tooth fairy, there's another fairy that brings girls an upper endowment, "All my friends got visits & expanded through the years & left me stuffing tube socks in my training bras from Sears." "Just Ask Your Doctor" bounces to a polka beat with the wish that there was a pill for everything. "Unconditional Love" holds a beautiful lyric by Nancy Moran, "I wish you hope that keeps you looking toward tomorrow and away from yesterday; I wish you faith." Sally Fingerett whose solo album A Woman's Gotta Do Her Thing was a favorite contributes "Faces On My Wall" that traces the evolution from a young person looking at family pictures of those who have come before to an older person who is the one who holds the memories. This is a delightful outing that emphasizes humor, punctuated by some tender thoughts and moments. Enjoy!

Saw these ladies perform in Pennsylvania. If you ever get a chance to see them , do not pass up the opportunity. They are four very different talents ,each terrific, and very funny. Be prepared to laugh!!!!

The Four Bitchin' Babes are very clever, as with their other albums, they make you laugh out loud. If you don't listen to the words you miss out entirely, but if you do listen you will be thoroughly entertained. I highly recommend this CD.
