1.0 out of 5 stars Book is excellent - Doctor is NOT
This book is excellent. I do not know who wrote it because the Dr. Redmond I saw was a horrible man with a huge ego. The book I would recommend, the doctor I would not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, some sanity- !!, October 7, 2005
This review is from: The Hormonally Vulnerable Woman: Relief at last for PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hair loss, adult acne, unwanted hair, female pain, migraine, weight ... the problems of perimenopause and menopause! (Hardcover)
Any woman who has arrived at the age where hormones begin to wreck havoc and alter the living of life needs to read this book; first to identify symptoms, and then for treatment plans. It's reader friendly, caring and sensible. Dr. Redmond had treated thousands of women successfully and understands how upsetting and devastating the conditions are. This book is aptly named, for it truly is vulnerability, a vulnerability which often times makes it's appearance at this time of our lives, namely 35-55. Where before our hormones were friendly, now they are hostile- hostile to hair, nerves, skin, emotions and relationships. Hostile to our future. If you want an ABC book, yet not compromise on the seriousness of the topic, have state of the art treatment, with a blend of allopathic and holistic, east and west, natural and chemical, ie. the best of all worlds, you have found the right book. It's blessedly straight forward. Dr. Redmond never seems out to impress any one. He displays no arrogance and has an openness to his ideas and experiences and those of his patients. I believe this book provides answers and peace of mind. I believe Dr. Redmond has taken a complex topic and made simple sense of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars every woman MUST read this book!!, May 5, 2006
This review is from: The Hormonally Vulnerable Woman: Relief at last for PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hair loss, adult acne, unwanted hair, female pain, migraine, weight ... the problems of perimenopause and menopause! (Hardcover)
Having read the book, Hormonally Vulnerable Women, and a number of other lesser, yet respected books, it quickly becomes clear who has the upper hand of insight and education when it comes to hair loss.

I met with Dr. Redmond, an endocrinologist, in NYC for my hair loss. I am glad that I did. He is easy to talk with, caring, concerned, responsive and dedicated to treating female
hair loss. I never once felt demeaned, ignored nor rushed. All of this counts to a great extent in todays world of medicine where the disease becomes the patient.

Not only was this my direct experience, I followed his plan and within a few short weeks my hair loss subsided.

For anyone who is unable to successfully treat their HL, has been to too many doctors to mention, spent countless dollars on topical treatments, tired out loved ones with constant complaining and is tired of the madness - you should buy this book!

I went to Dr. Redmond over three years ago with a whole host of female problems that were preventing me from feeling good and enjoying my life. All that has completely changed due to his expert medical care. When I read his book, I knew that I had to buy copies for all my female friends! If you often feel that something is just "not right" with your health...then you owe it to yourself to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the only book you will need, March 6, 2006

This review is from: The Hormonally Vulnerable Woman: Relief at last for PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hair loss, adult acne, unwanted hair, female pain, migraine, weight ... the problems of perimenopause and menopause! (Hardcover)
Dr. Redmond's book is the only book you will ever need if you are suffering from hormonal problems. I was suffering for years with various symptoms of hormonal dysfunction, such as adult acne, hair shedding, unwanted facial hair and problematic periods. I went to numerous physicians over the last 7 years and was constantly dismissed. I finally discovered Dr. Redmond, seeked proper treament and now my symptoms have been greatly controlled. Dr. Redmond's book is straight forward, caring and informative. It answers all questions thoroughly regarding alopecia, adult acne, unwanted hair, fatigue and more. This is an excellent addition to a physician's library collection, especially dermatologist, endocrinologist and general practioners. This book is written and structured in such a way that clinicians, physicians and clients can all understand and benefit from Dr. Redmond's extensive knowledge of hormones and proper treatment. I cannot recommend this book enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read for every hormonally vulnerable woman, February 27, 2006

Tina (Poughkeepsie, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hormonally Vulnerable Woman: Relief at last for PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hair loss, adult acne, unwanted hair, female pain, migraine, weight ... the problems of perimenopause and menopause! (Hardcover)
I would like to commend Dr. Redmond on writing such a helpful, informative, and interesting book. I cannot say enough good things about it. His knowledge and understanding of the problems hormones can cause in women, as well as his compassion and desire to help us through this hormonally challenging time in our lives (when it's easy to feel betrayed by our own bodies) is apparent in every page. I applaud his ability to present the information in an easy-to-understand, balanced, and unbiased format. I also like his personal anecdotes and conversational style.

Every woman who picks up this book will learn something valuable about her body--mainly the function of her hormones, how they can affect nearly every aspect of her life, and what she can do about the problems they cause. If you're a woman caught in a losing battle with your hormones, I urge you to buy this book and read it! No matter how many doctors have told you "you'll just have to learn to live with it," don't believe it--you can get help. You just need to know where to look and what questions to ask, and this book points the way.

After reading Dr. Geoffrey Redmond's book, I felt very hopeful that something could be done to help with my hair loss. I cannot emphasize this enough: If you are a woman, you need to read this book. He discusses, in great detail, the many hormonally related problems that most women have at one time in their lives. This is a book for women of all ages with all types of hormone problems. And thank goodness there is a person out there that actually cares about women's hormone health. Thank you Dr. Redmond!

5.0 out of 5 stars I lived this book, April 5, 2007
This review is from: The Hormonally Vulnerable Woman: Relief at last for PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hair loss, adult acne, unwanted hair, female pain, migraine, weight ... the problems of perimenopause and menopause! (Hardcover)
If you are a woman suffering with unexplained hair loss on your head, hair growth where you don't want it, irritability, constant fatigue, dry skin or other skin problems and you are starting to feel generally more like a man than the beautiful woman you used to be, this book is for you. There ARE medications that can help you although most doctors will ignore and dismiss you. I went to see Dr. Redmond and he was able to help me, it was worth the trip into NYC and every penny. I feel like myself again and that is a miracle.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that really gives good info about hormones, March 21, 2006
This review is from: The Hormonally Vulnerable Woman: Relief at last for PMS, mood swings, fatigue, hair loss, adult acne, unwanted hair, female pain, migraine, weight ... the problems of perimenopause and menopause! (Hardcover)
Dr. Redmond's book is one of the best I've read on the subject of women's hormones. Especially at menopause, women's hormones go haywire and cause all kinds of health problems. Dr. Redmond's knowledge gave me new resourses to try and I can't recommend this book enough for women going through the change and for all women who want to learn more about how they can help themselves feel better by understanding what their hormones are doing to them and why.
