1.0 out of 5 stars Not interest in his patients or the results
My wife bought this book and was impressed with the ideas. We are lucky enough to live in Jacksonville where he has his practice. After a year of seeing Dr Randolph she had seen little improvement. In fact after an extended menstrual cycle she went to a regular appointment in an emotional state hoping the get some further guidance. The office staff were rude to her and...

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank God for Dr. Randolph and his book!!!!!, November 23, 2004

This review is from: From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well: Discover Human-Identical Hormones as a Safe & Effective Treatment for PMS, Perimenopause, Menopause or Hysterectomy (Paperback)
For the past 6 years, I have been suffering from virtually all of the systems Dr. Randolph describes in his book.

As a former Ballet dancer, choreographer and dance school owner, I have gained over 75 lbs and now know why. I have painful and achy joints; lots of stress, virtually no sex drive, some hair loss, memory problems after having virtually a photographic memory for most of my life. I am moody and irritable at times and find myself feeling like I want to give up. I have met with doctor after doctor in my local area. Each would have a different theory about what was wrong. Some told me nothing was wrong while others treated me with the "One size fits all" philosophy Dr. Randolph describes in his book.

Believe me, I am an informed and educated patient who truly enjoyed this easy read. He explains everything simply, yet not patronizing. I love this book so much and I am feeling so hopeful that I will finally start feeling better that I made an appointment with Dr. Randolph, himself and will travel to see him in Jacksonville, FL to start my treatment plan.

I love the idea of saliva tests not blood tests to determine my custom treatment plan! Hooray!

5.0 out of 5 stars There is hope and help for menopause, April 13, 2005

This review is from: From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well: Discover Human-Identical Hormones as a Safe & Effective Treatment for PMS, Perimenopause, Menopause or Hysterectomy (Paperback)
I read this book cover to cover, then bought a copy for my OB/GYN. I took the saliva test, my doctor ordered my natural hormone replacement therapy from a compound pharmacist and I'm on my way to a healthier life. This book is for every woman who suffers from any kind of horomonal imbalance at any age in her life. The book will tell you exactly where to go for help, how to get your tests done and give you all the resources you need. The best money I ever spent. I can't recommend it highly enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book will change your life!!, August 19, 2004
This review is from: From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well: Discover Human-Identical Hormones as a Safe & Effective Treatment for PMS, Perimenopause, Menopause or Hysterectomy (Paperback)
I was at a loss, what was going on with my body! I kept reading and hearing all the reports of how bad HRTs were for me. I was starting to show signs of perimenopause and I needed help. Dr. Randolph's book explained why I was feeling so weepy, why I was gaining weight and how to get these symptoms under control. This book has made all the difference in how I feel. I understand now that I was not going crazy, but just needed some help. It also cleared up what Human-Identical hormones really are. I would recommend this to any woman who is making decisions on her peri-menopause or menopause health care! Way to go , Dr. Randolph! Sara

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book and easy to digest, March 21, 2006

I've tried to wade through several books on the hormone/menopause connection -- but this book is by far the easiest to read (thank you for the larger type!) and comprehend. Hormone therapy of any kind is a very complex topic, so I truly appreciate this doctor's careful yet conversational approach to the text. I found it helpful, comforting, uplifting, and easy to use. I am much less leery and frightened of menopause after this informative read.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Experience with Bio-Identical Hormones, February 13, 2007

First, let me say with much chagrin that I have never read the above book. I gave it 5 stars because I did not want to downgrade its rating if I hadn't read it. That being said, I have some really good info to share with those thinking of going down the bio-identical path, and I'm hoping Amazon is ok with this. I started on pharmaceutical hormones when I was 2 years into menopause. First I took pills, then I went on the patch. I took both estrogen and progesterone. I was having about 5 hot flashes an hour, couldn't sleep well, and was losing bladder control (I've exercised strenuously my whole life and this was a shock for me. I had my kids thru Csection, so that wasn't it). The pills worked (no more bladder problems), but I had breakthru bleeding and I was hoping to find something better. The patch was an improvement because the skin delivery system bypasses the liver (I was told). Thru reading books like this one, I came across a doctor who is the head of the ob/gyn dept. at Vanderbilt Hospital in Tennessee who developed his own delivery system of bio-identical hormones in DROPS. He also throws testosterone into the drops if a blood test shows that you need it. His name is Dr. Joel Hargrove and he will work with your own personal physician to get the proper dosage worked out. I found him in the book The Wisdom of Menopause by Christiane Northrup, MD, which I'm sure Amazon sells (look in the resource section in the back, chapter 5). I'd give you the lab's telephone #, but I don't think that Amazon allows that. I love the drops. I can take a minimum amount because if I take too little I get hot flashes, and if I take too much I get breakthru bleeding. I only need to take one drop a day. It's not covered by my medical plan (the dolts!), but it's cheaper than my co-pays would be. And the testosterone is great! Once I started on that, my sex drive came back and my hair, which had been getting very thin, filled out again. I had to look around a bit to find a doctor who was "with it" enough to help me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, July 9, 2006
This review is from: From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well: Discover Human-Identical Hormones as a Safe & Effective Treatment for PMS, Perimenopause, Menopause or Hysterectomy (Paperback)
I have read many books on human identical hormones. Dr. Randolph offers a helpful, and slightly different perspective on the benefits of this kind of HRT. If you are interested in getting a view from a medical doctor who truly understands what women and men go through with hormonal fluctuations, you will want to add this book to your collection.

This review is from: From Hormone Hell to Hormone Well: Discover Human-Identical Hormones as a Safe & Effective Treatment for PMS, Perimenopause, Menopause or Hysterectomy (Paperback)
This is a very enlightening book that every woman should read, no matter her age. It will help the reader to become informed about their bodies and how they react with and without the proper hormones. It should also help the woman discuss issues with their physcians and help them to decide the type to hormone replacement they would like.

The office staff were rude to her and drove her to tears. Dr Randolph's reaction was to discharger her as a patient. So if you react well to his treatments then your in luck otherwise he's quick to get rid of you so you don't infect his perfect data. There is a reason "Big drug" companies are big and is because they have to maintain fair records of their drug effectiveness. Dr Randolph has no such requirement. He was happy to refer my wife to a Doctor that doesn't even practice the same techniques. He's a quack.
