3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent facts, Bitter Judgementalism.
If you can get past Ms. Sellman's vitriolic diatribe against the Pharmaceutical industry, and Male physicians, there is a wealth of information every woman should know. I could certainly do without her insipid social commentary. One of the worst parts is near the end of the book, under the heading of 'Creating Sacred Feminine Power', we are encouraged to "Take...

"Hormone Heresy" has been a revelation for me, and has given me the information and confidence to make major changes regarding my physical health. I have spent over 25 years in the traditional, allopathic healthcare environment and was always convinced, both as a patient and an "insider", that continued use of HRT would keep me healthy and slow down the aging process. I have also been a proponent / consumer of alternative healthcare therapies for several years, but did not realize that my hormonal health was as compromised as it was. After reading Ms. Sellman's data and her observations of the politics and dynamics associated with women's health, I recognized that many of my health problems, symptoms, and lack of energy were directly associated with my body being "over-estrogened", causing imbalances in many areas of my system. I have followed her suggestions regarding natural hormones, supplements, and diet, and have chosen to pay attention to my own body's wisdom rather than the misguided advice of unenlightened physicians. As a result, I am healthier, clearer-minded, and have more energy than I have experienced in years. I am 51 years old, 17 years post-op total hysterectomy, and spent 16 years on Premarin. Prior to my hysterectomy, I spent 10 years on birth control pills. (I've done myself a lot of hormone damage!) Today, I feel more vital than I did 20 years ago, and I would not be in the balanced physical condition that I am had I not discovered this book.

It is as important to me that we strive to become healthy and balanced in our own bodies as we work to heal our environment and natural resources. For this reason, I have passed along several copies of this book to friends and family. You will want to keep this book as continued reference, and you also will want to share copies with other women whose well-being is important to you.

If you are a woman, you MUST read this book. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I have done intense amounts of research on the subject since that time. The author has put together in one book the information it took me months to collect. Caution! If you read this book, you will never again be able to look at yourself or your Doctors with the same thought patterns. "Where was I when this information became known?" Why didn't my Doctors inform me of this knowledge before my body parts had to be cut off and my life threatened?

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will not only change your life,it may save it., September 29, 1998

This review is from: Hormone Heresy : What Women Must Know About Their Hormones (Paperback)
Hormone Heresy is a book that all women who want to be in charge of their health MUST read. The book is clearly written and is highly informative and will provide women with an informed choice about H.R.T.

Women must know the information in this book.

Much of the information is based on research and will shock many readers.

This book gives women the information they need to reclaim the power to make decisions on H.R.T.

You will recognise yourself in the illuminating case studies and know you are not alone or going mad.

This is a courageous book and I applaud Ms. Sellman for her great contribution to te health and empowerment of women.

Men who partner women on the pill or women who are menopausal, must read this book as it will help them to understand what is going on and can be empowering to them also.

This book can change your life and maybe save it.

I could certainly do without her insipid social commentary. One of the worst parts is near the end of the book, under the heading of 'Creating Sacred Feminine Power', we are encouraged to "Take time either by yourself or with friends to have a full moon meditation". Isn't that sweet? What the hell does that mean? I hate crap like that. Because her research seems so thorough I trudged through that kind of psycho-babble garbage, to get to the very informative facts. This is another one of those, "Women are Saints, Men are very very Bad", books. Read it for the facts, and try to ignore her definite prejudices. I for one, adore men, and her advise on natural projesterone just makes me able to love them more.

By A Customer
This review is from: Hormone Heresy : What Women Must Know About Their Hormones (Paperback)
This book should be read by, and placed in, every gynecologist's office in the world. Sherrill has been able to transform all the gobbledygook offered by "Doctors" into a language that every female over the age of 20 can understand. The book is so informative that even my husband understands me better. I have placed several copies of this book in my beauty salon so women of all ages can learn the real truth about their bodies.
