The tare weight changes after a little bit.In order to get correct weight when adding material, have to remove from balance, add material, then replace on balance. Get one weight one time, a small difference (1-2 grains) the next time with the same item. Disappointed with the name brand scale.

Reloading Scale,

I recently got into reloading and obviously needed a scale. I looked at several models and this one seemed the best. Very simple and easy to use. I'm not sure if the cheaper ones would be as good. I often find you get what you pay for. As for accuracy in "trickling" powder... I just make a *very* light tap on the scale to adjust it.Over all, a great scale for the price. If you're into mega-reloading, better get the expensive units to do mass loads for that purpose. If you're just reloading a few dozen cartridges for your hunting rifle, can't beat this little scale.

For the price it's not bad. It did require me to weigh and remove and weigh again as trickling powder is not very accurate and you need to remove powder pan off scale and then put back down for best accuracy. Just more time consuming but for a 30 dollar scale it's what I expected and I don't need to weigh to many powder charges....Muzzle loader here and use a conversion chart to weigh charges.

This scale is easy enough to set up and use. It shows the weight quickly and is fairly accurate. It would not be acceptable if you are loading right at the max because it can be off by as much as .2 grs. It is sensitive to static electricity so keep other plastic objects away from it. I use it as a check against my other scale and to check how much my powder dispenser is throwing after I adjust it. It will not give you the exact weight but it is close enough to make sure I am close to what I want where you could then make the fine adjustments using a more accurate scale. I have used it a good bit and I am still on the first battery so the life of the battery is fine.I would imagine that you might get some weird readings as the battery is nearly drained but hopefully it is obvious. I rely on my beam scale so it really would be of no consequence. The only annoying thing is that it shuts off pretty quickly. For the price it is excellent. However, if you are looking for precise measuring this is not going to do it. Using scale check weights it sometimes gives the check weight but mostly it is off by .1 and sometimes .2. I have not experienced a time where it is off by more than that. If that is close enough for you well then it is perfect. I would not get rid of it because I like it as a reliable and quick way to check my powder dispenser and also to make sure I set up my beam scale properly where a little bit of inattention and it is possible to set it up a gr higher or lower. As careful as I try to be it is one more check that is reliable and quick. Oh even when you use the calibration weight it often will not weight that weight exactly as 100 grams.

When it comes to reloading the scale is probably the most important part. This scale is absolutely junk, and very dangerous to say the least. It never stays zeroed out. So say you weigh a charge out at 6 grains, well after I load up about 10 rounds I'll go back to check the first one I loaded, and it will be off by by .2 all the way up to .6. Very dangerous when loading pistol rounds close to max loads...

I was hesitant about buying a "cheap" scale but took a chance hoping Hornady wouldn't put their good name on junk. I found this scale to be extremely accurate. We tested using 10, 20, and 50 grain weights. As with any scale this sensitive you can't have air blowing, pounding/hammering or any loud noises like a radio going on while weighing on the grain scale. If your wanting a very accurate scale and aren't in a huge hurry this will work good for ya.

Not bad, I use it every ten rounds or so to ensure my powder measure is throwing the correct charge. Measurements are within +/_ a tenth of a grain for the charges I use. But I dont think its going to last long.

I bought this for my father in law to measure his powder charges for his reloading hobby. His arthritis does not allow him to use the beam style scales as he has lost feeling in his hands and can't control them precisely enough to get a measurement. This scale was just the answer. It is small, portable, and easy to setup. Plus the numbers are large enough for him to read easily. He loves it and is having a grand old time loading bullets for his new 223 rifle.
