Great set of books if all you use is Hornady bullets. The co-efficency tables are excellent and it does a very good job explaining balistics. However if you want to experiment with brands other than Hornady bullets these books are not much aid.

The set of Books helped me to develop target loads for different calibers but was still missing in some areas eg. 45 Long colt rifle data and data for VihtaVuori powders

Hello! The book is published by a bullet manufacturer!, June 19, 2005
This review is from: Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading: Rifle-Pistol (Hardcover)
First - READ the manual, and the notes on the cartrdige. You are dealing with dangerous weapons and explosives, this is not an area to skim and blunder on through. You will at least proabaly ruin a good firearm, and worst blind yourself, blow your hand off, or cause other serious harm, and teh rest of us will have to pay for your stupidity.
you buy a manual from each company who's bullets you use. It been that way for, oh, 50 years or so!!!
as for some of the Viht powders - they publish many of their own loads themselves, as they are still a bit of a newcomer to the field.
and there is no 45 Long Colt rifle. There is a 45 Long Colt cartridge, period. Are you confusing this with old 45/70 GVT cartrdige? You obviously did not read the warnings about this cartridge and/or look at the TC/Ruger loads they list, which are loaded to higher pressures, and a warning on brass as some brass is not capable of being loaded to these pressures.
It is the same old story - a book can not convey anymore information than the reader is actually willing to read.
It is extremely scary that some of you are reloading and not thoroughly reading the manual. And scarier that others will pay for your idiocy, and and a great craft and hobby will be labeled as dangerous and banned becuase some childish individuals can not take it seriously.
