Like many others, I imagine, I approached this book expecting it to be a joke, shallow, and horribly written. I could not have been more wrong though. Simply stated, this book is a masterpeice that will surely go down as a classic for the ages to sit along side such literary mainstays as The Great Gatsby, Moby Dick, Catcher in the Rye, Hitler's Homosexual Zombie Corpse, and The Grapes of Wrath. It's difficult to convey the sheer genius of this book without ruining the nuances and mysteries it contains, but one thing that deserves special mention is that the imagery of Osama's ghost is incredibly layered and complex serving to become analalogies for many things all at once. On the surface he seems superficial and nothing more than a B rate movie monster, but readily apparent is that he also represents the futility of living in a modern era. Upon re-reading, one discovers that even that is only a veil for the inadequecies of a mother's love in an era of modern technology. Even further down the rabbit hole however, it becomes unavoidable that at his core, Osama's horny ghost is a simple message, "Love each other."

Yes, all these things have been said before, but in life it is often not so much a matter of what we learn, but how we learn it and the powerful emotional journey that one MUST embark on to discover the depths of this character (both figurative and literal) provides one of the most profound examples of this as I feel I will forever define my life as "The times before reading Horny Ghost Of Osama Bin Laden: Rise Of The Ghost," and "the times after reading Horny Ghost Of Osama Bin Laden: Rise Of The Ghost."

Bottom line; you owe it not only to yourself to read this book as soon as you can, you owe it not only to AMERICA, you owe it to HUMANITY.

From reading the other reviews for this title, there appears to be a common theme, namely that no one who has posted a review seems to have actually read the book. So if you would like an opinion on the quality of this book that doesn't go overboard into tongue-in-cheek praise, even though some praise is warranted, please read on.

Before I get into the meat of my review, though, I first have to clarify the scale I used for my rating. You'll see that I gave the title four stars, which may imply to you that it is only one star away from being a classic work of literature like, say, "The Odyssey," but believe me, this is not the case. To give a fair rating, I took into account the book's objectives, pacing, tone, delivery, and so on, and asked, "How well did this book fare in accomplishing its goals?" I then answered that question on a scale of one to five with no regard for comparisons to other works of disparate content.

[Minor spoilers may follow]

That being said, I gathered this book is primarily intended as a preposterous romp designed to appeal to the juvenile Beavis & Butthead senses of humor that some of us still hold on to regardless of whether we'll admit it in public. In this sense, the book delivers admirably. The pure absurdity of a dead terrorist's ghost returning from beyond the grave to gather a spectral army and wreak vengeance on the United States, growing ever more powerful through sexual interactions with its denizens, all while fending off attacks from a vampire sorority, the CIA, other vengeful ghosts, dead presidents, and a stripper reincarnated as a dancing and talking dog is enough to keep the pages turning.

Dismissed by many as some kind of joke, Horny Ghost of Osama Bin Laden: Rise of the Ghost is an incredible, visceral work of modern political fiction, the kind of mile-a-minute think piece that you rarely expect from such a touchy subject.

Author P.R. Resurrector has crafted a memorable, meaningful and DARING work, that goes beneath the surface of the American people and the media's post-9/11 xenophobia, and gets to the root of who (or what) is really controlling America. The titular Ghost, while a very real entity in the book, forms a brazen allegory for the remnants of America's collective guilt, and the suppression of its fears. HGOOBL: ROTG is one of those rare works of art that draws you right in and takes on a roller-coaster ride, but at the same time, keeps you perfectly, and almost painfully aware of its darker implications.

Like some kind of re-contextualized masterpiece, it takes the typically sub-urban setting of the American horror story and strips it away, bringing the fear right to the heart of American Government, with the Ghost acting both as tormentor and teacher, preying on the bodies of young women just like the politicization of abortion and other prevalent issues. However, even though its message is positive (that we should all love one another) it has a dark, terrifying soul. Without giving too much away, it nihilistically speaks to humanity's doomed nature, and the eventual reveal is as original as it is shocking. It indeed takes terrorism to a whole new level.

Stunned, that is how I felt when someone threw this book at me and it hit me in the head. Absolutely stunned, and for a second I thought that I might black-out, as it is 280 pages long and weighs 1.1 pounds, but I didn't. It did raise a good-sized welt on my forehead though that turned red and, after a day or so, a yellowish hue. A stunning book. What more can I say?
