5.0 out of 5 stars This is Christmas (keg) party music
Whatever it is that brought you to read this review, take it as a sign. You should buy this CD! Maybe even buy two, because you are likely to spill eggnog on one of them. If you are a Mojo fan, this is arguably his best CD. If you are looking for something different in your holiday music, here it is. This recording sounds like Mojo and the Toadliquors got together...

Whatever it is that brought you to read this review, take it as a sign. You should buy this CD! Maybe even buy two, because you are likely to spill eggnog on one of them. If you are a Mojo fan, this is arguably his best CD. If you are looking for something different in your holiday music, here it is. This recording sounds like Mojo and the Toadliquors got together for a few (too many) drinks to rehearse, and just ended up recording that. It's a great mix of R&B, traditional, and a few original songs. The singing and playing may be a little sloppy, and Mojo doesn't quite cut it singing "Everyday Will Be Like a Holiday", but the inspired piano playing by Wet Dawg more than makes up any musical short-comings.

Some highlights:
*The opening song, an irreverent-yet-sincere "Happy Birthday" to Jesus [].
*The rave-up of "Good King Wenceslas" (I forgot the words - let's just sing La La La).
*Every juvenile delinquent's favorite version of "Jingle Bells" (that's right, Batman smells).
*"We Three Kings" is reworked as a tale of drunken revelry. It turns out that "We Three Kings of Orient Are" nicely rhymes with both "drinking whiskey in a bar" and "throwing up in our dad's car". This song also includes a great Tom Waits impression.

If your line of good taste has not been crossed by the end of the disc, it probably will be on the final cut, "Twas the Night Before Christmas", when Mojo sings of committing unnatural acts with Blitzen. Do not play this for your mom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimately offend your mother-in-law !!!!!!!!, December 29, 1998

A Christmas album for the masses whom despise Christmas albums!! Mojo's interpretations and "re-wordings" of classic Christmas tunes, as well as some original tunes leads to a FUNKY-FINE CHRISTMAS!!! A must for those so tired of "A Muppets Christmas" and Harry Connick Jr that they feel they should take their own life around Christmas time!!!!!!!!

What can you say about Mojo Nixon? A holiday without Mojo would be like a holiday without malt liquor, BBQ, and your favorite Elvis 8 track.

And FWIW, the backup singers make the album. Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh yeah, now THAT'S some Xmas spirit!, March 13, 2001

This album just screams for a death match between Bing Crosby and Mojo - who celebrates the holiday better? Sure, you can have your old standards, but when Mojo mixes it up it doesn't get any better. Sure, you can play the old favorites any time you want, but keep this one handy for that night when the eggnog has an extra kick and you want to enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Christmas CD...EVER!!!!, December 19, 2010
This review is from: Horny Holidays! (MP3 Download)
Are you easily offended? Too bad! Don't listen to this one then.

Wanna play something fun while you drive around fighting the mall traffic? Then I have your attitude adjustment right here.

Mojo and his pals start off the CD with a raucous version of Happy Birthday to pay homage to the King baby Jesus: "Happy birthday to you, you woodworking Jew. Happy birthday dear Jesus...you renegade rabbi rabble rouser from Bethlehem...Happy birthday to you."

Most of the tracks sound like a bunch of loaded fools who just left the microphone running while they goofed off in the studio. That's OK though, because they have just enough talent and plenty of gusto to pull it off.

Some of the tracks are nasty enough that we had to burn a special mix with only the suitable songs. Otherwise we were bound to miss the fast-forward button and scar our kids or frighten the in-laws.

My favorite tracks include:

* Good King Wenceslas (where nobody knows the words and they end up singing "la la la")
* Mr. Grinch - Definitely my favorite version of this song. He NAILS it!
* Boogie Woogie Santa Clause - Soulful track. They actually sound sober for this one.
* Everyday Will Be a Holiday (when my baby comes back to me) - As close as he gets to a sentimental holiday love song.
* Go Tell it on a Mountain - A great version of this Gospel tune. Pretty decent for a bunch of white dudes.

Give it a try. Hopefully it puts a grin on your chin.

2.0 out of 5 stars Happy Birthday, Dear Jesus., December 7, 2006

This is Mojo Nixon's Christmas album. He got together with his band, The Toadliquors, and recorded some Christmas songs. Unfortunately, he didn't bother to learn the lyrics to any of the songs, just relying on his rather poor memory. He often forget the words and just sings whatever dirty words pop into his head. The whole album is very sloppily played. But that's Mojo for ya.
