Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The posthumous album, originally released in 1984, has never been available on CD until now. The vinyl has been unavailable since the 1980s. Re-mastered and restored to its correct sequence with three bonus tracks. 32-page booklet contains ephemera, photos, and interviews. Vinyl is true all-analog, HQ-180 pressing. "Combining rock 'n' roll's traditional fetish for pure, unmediated feeling, with a more modern sort of artistic calculation, Burma's music could evoke everything from the Beatles' ecstatic run of Hamburg rock clubs in the early 60s to the lightning-speed hardcore punk that was developing in the US during Burma's tenure. In this sense, Burma can be said to have blithely encapsulated punk's overarching mission: to draw a line connecting rock rebels past and present, and, in doing so, re-imagine and re-establish the music's anarchic condition" - Salon.com.
DVD Features: Live at the Bradford Ballroom, Boston, March 12, 1983 (evening show)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best of Boston, January 3, 2009
By mburma (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
The history of Boston rock goes nowhere without Burma. Though their original lifespan was only five years tops, their influence and reverence among music lovers is widespread. Only saw them once in Boston and they cut such a powerful presence onstage. You can hear it on this disc and see it on the DVD. And the legend continues as MOB has begun touring and recording again in the past five years.

This is a excellent document of what makes rock meaningful. Check out the other re-mastered releases, too!

3.0 out of 5 stars Burma live!, May 22, 2008
Hard to forget.
They were a great band, and the "horrible truth" is...they always played to half empty halls and poor audience.
Anyway, here you have a way to understand their real value and sonic power, well experienced by the fortunate sons who attended their show.
Experimental songs like "Tremolo" make perfect pairs with the occasional pop hooks of "That's When I Reach For My Revolver"...
Listen without prejudice (for real!).
