Francesca Simon spent her childhood on the beach in California, and then went to Yale and Oxford Universities to study medieval history and literature. She now lives in London with her family. She has written over 45 books and won the Children's Book of the Year in 2008 at the Galaxy British Book Awards for "Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman".

This collection of Horrid Henry stories brings back to parents the joys of English primary school. Ten school-related stories covering such gems as new teachers, school work, the dreaded 'nits', school trips, dinner ladies, school projects, swimming and... the problem with underpants!
These are easily read stories that allow both parent and child to share in the fun escapades of Henry and his brother 'perfect' Peter. We've all been there at some point in the story and your kids will love it!

Ten whimsical stories that captivate my second grade class. They delight in Horrid Henry's "brilliant" schemes which hysterically seem to go awry. Boys and girls alike are spell-bound in giggling and listening. An excellent choice for a read aloud book and gives wonderful examples of alliteration.
The Horrid Henry series is also a great exposure to British vocabulary and culture. It was a wonderful springboard for me to teach the children about another culture and about "different" as opposed to the "wrong way." The "genius" plans hatched by a boy plagued by his "perfect-in-every-way" brother will keep normally reluctant readers riveted. It is an absolute treat for my class and they cheer whenever they see me pull out the Horrid Henry book. You can't go wrong with Horrid Henry.
