"Horror" is definitely borderline death metal, the metalcore elements come out in some of the chugga-chugga riffing (of course meant for mosh-ability). This gets listed as metalcore mainly because they are on the Prosthetic label. They, like many of their counterparts, infuse a decent amouont of Swedish-style riffing and leads. Cannae are obviously at least somewhat influenced by At The Gates. One thing you won't find here is any punk sounding parts with pretty emo vocals. This rips all the way through. The drumming is also a high point, for me at least. "Horror" is a good CD in most regards, not really original, but good. Fans of Bleeding Through, The Agony Scene, or even In Flames, Arch Enemy, Dimension Zero and bands of the like, would do good to check this one out.

The production and overall sound on the record takes the longest to get used to if you're familar with Cannae's dance floor eliminating masterpice debut "Troubleshooting Death" but Horror is an absolute 10 out of 10 Cannae is amazing...Boston represanting

I just bought this album yesterday, and I gotta say it's already one of my favorite new (not nu) metal albums in my collection. It's not as complexed as other new metal albums out there today, but it's still brutal and hard enough for pure moshing and angry headbanging. There are plenty of good guitar solos on this album, as well as the typical raw throated vocals that you can just shout along too. Every song on here is great, but my favorite song on here is the last track Projector. Man, I can just listen to that song over and over. So if you're looking for some good brutal metal, give this album a shot, I hope you like it.

This band absolutely destroys. This record isn't as complex as some other albums out there, but it definitely brings the mosh. It'll be interesting to see what these guys put together as a follow-up in the midst of the current wave of metal. I think there's a new record coming out this year, but in the meantime, i'll be sure to keep this one in the player.

Don't get me wrong, this is a GOOD album. It's not a great album, but it's good nevertheless. Cannae are a lesser known part of the new wave of American metal/hardcore that's been getting so popular with the mall kids lately. Musically they sound like old Killswitch Engage with no melodic parts, or a Himsa with more chugging.

If you're into the whole NWOAM/HC, go for it, because it's a good album. But it's nothing revolutionary, nothing that would convert people who aren't already fans of the genre. If you're new to NWOAM/HC, pick up Killswitch Engage's Alive Or Just Breathing (or End Of Heartache when it comes out), or Haste's Mercury Lift instead.

Cannae are a lesser known New Wave Of American Metal/Hardcore band who play a syle of music that's similar to Unearth (or Killswitch Engage without the melodic singing).
There are lots of tasteful solos throughout the album, and lots of good Gothenburg style leads, good rythmn section (the drumming is more "rock" than other bands in the same genre), and typical shouted raw throated vocals.

The only problem is, there are many other bands who play the same style of music, so Cannae don't really stand out from the pack with this release. This would not be an album I would reccomend to someone trying to get into the NWOAM/HC genre, as opposed to Killswitch Engage's Alive Or Just Breathing, Himsa's Courting Tragedy & Disaster, or Atreyu's Suicide Notes & Butterfly Kisses (or even the new Avenged Sevenfold, which the kiddies seem to enjoy these days).

Again, it's a good album, but nothing new or exceptional. Pick it up if you've been listening to hardcore or metal for a while, and want a solid album. It doesn't have the variety of Killswitch Engage (everything from power ballads to all out thrash-fests) or the drama of Atreyu, but it's worth picking up if you're a fan of the genre.
