This box contains four horror-stories that are all somehow related to the stories in my Rebekka Franck-series, but can easily be read separately.

If you are looking for something really different and out there these are the books for you! I didn't find them particularly scary... Up until the 4th one. Humpty Dumpty totally creeped me out and it was my favorite of the 4. I wouldn't recommend reading it in the dark with just the light of your kindle.

The stories were a little on the yawn side. One of the stories was super creepy however that was mostly because it involved incest. A little nasty there. Less creepy and more on the interesting side mostly. However maybe I have become jaded reading to many King novels. Carrie, Cujo and The car just to name a few of his scary stories.

The horrors were delivered in a refined way unlike a large portion of "gore fest" horror stories. The novella lengths allowed for more character development than what you find in most short story formats. Each held my interest throughout with satisfying endings. I looked forward to starting the next story.

I found this on a free book site newslist recently. Having toyed with the idea of reading one of the Rebecca Frank series, but not being willing to buy it based on Amazon reviews, I was glad I got a chance to read this lady's work on a free basis.

Truthfully, I really can't decide if I like Willow Rose's work or not after reading these four stories. The only really decent, great scary one in the pack is "Nibble, Nibble Crunch." The first story, "Rock A Bye Baby" is just too predictable...and if THAT'S Rebecca Frank at the end of it, one wonders how the character solves anything. She comes across in that story as being one of the dumbest, dense characters I've ever read. "Eenie Meenie" was ok, but it was so boring I fast forwarded to the end to see who the mystery man was.

But for pure, stand out, sick, twisted perversion, one need look no further than "Humpty Dumpty." That is the thing that really bothered me though with all of the stories - somehow or another, with the exception of the first one (as I recall) they all come back to stories with hints or full out rape or incest in them, and it just leaves one cold after a while - and not from fear. "Humpty Dumpty" nearly made me physically ill...and with no real sense of closure to it, that was even worse.

It's one thing to use words to scare; it's quite another to use them to try and shock us with perverse thoughts. I think that's the thing...an author like Stephen King would be able to find the horror without having to resort to such graphic images to do so, and it was the hardcore description in that final story that really turned me off. Well, ok that and the author's obvious "fascination" with such topics. Rape and incest is not an easy topic to deal with, but it seemed as if she was going more erotic that scary and it just didn't work for me.

Not the best I have ever read. Can't say I really enjoyed them. Actually the endings have left me dismayed.

I have read the first two short stories in this collection. The first one really had me. I personally like this author, had just finished reading her Rebekka Franck series before purchasing this set. I think if you like surprise endings with a twist then you will like these.

These weren't zombie stories or vampire stories. I liked them for that reason. I would recommend this book if you are looking for some different horror.
