Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 9 Up-A collection of 15 horror stories by Canadian young adult writers. In one tale, a yearbook editor makes psychic predictions about students' futures; when one girl is killed in an accident just as foretold, the students realize they could be next. Another selection involves an old man telling his son about the day he met Johnny Cash on his way to the Promised Land and how the encounter changed his life. In another, a girl can't understand why her family has locked her out of the house and why no one will talk to her. When she overhears her friends talking about a train crash, she realizes that she was the victim. All of the stories offer scary scenes of everyday life, but they are not filled with blood and gore. Readers who loved R. L. Stine's Goosebumps (Scholastic) and Fear Street (S & S) when younger may find that these stories fill the void when they reach high school years.-Diana Pierce, Running Brushy Middle School, Cedar Park, TX

"The Horrors runs the gamut from Stephen King–like gore . . . to gentle ghost tales."

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst book, February 3, 2006

This review is from: The Horrors: Terrifying Tales (Paperback)
I can honestly say this is the worst horror book I've ever read. When I saw the cover I thought it would be really terrifying tales inside.Yet the stories are all boring, dull and not one bit scary.I liked to say there was at least one story I liked yet there was'nt.This book was so bad in fact it took me awhile to finish it.I won't even pass it on to a friend it was that bad.
