I bought this book for my four-and-a-half year old niece who loves horses. As soon as I opened it, I knew it was the wrong book for a small child. This book begins with detailed diagrams of horse anatomy, followed by drawings like the one on the cover explaining horse care and riding techniques. It's a beautiful book, but better for a mature child or teen who is serious about learning about horses and might want to know where the "common digital extensor tendon" is located. The girl on the cover appears to be about the right age to fully appreciate this book.

This was the first of the Dover coloring books I purchased for my four year old daughter. It features not only realistic drawings but some instructional/informational text about horse breeds, horse care, horsemanship and riding styles. The rider, both adult and child, are included in the images. My daughter liked it so much we ended up buying all the horse/pony titles by John Green we could find on Amazon including "Horses of the World" and "Ponies of the World". Mr. Green, please do more horse/pony books!

This coloring books was fun for my kids and I to color. We spent a couple hours coloring. The picture weren't too detailed for my kids to enjoy. It is great for the millions of horse lovers out there.

It is a great book...with many drawings that help a 3 years old kid to paint it and the kids love it....my son doesn't know to read but the detailed explanations help us (parents) to explain him what is going on in each page and to create bed stories for him...
Excellent book for a kid who loves animals and horses.

Every student young or old begins their lessons about horses using this book. I buy them by the dozens. This book is wonderful and was actually referred to me by another trainer. It has helped many novices learn the basic of horses.

Definitely not for younger children. Best for advanced readers and children with lots of years experience in coloring. However, by the time most readers would understand the text, those same readers would probably not be that interested in coloring, so I am not at all sure what interest bracket this book would fall into.

We have bought several of these coloring books in the Horse Series and are very pleased. I was unable to find any for older children before.

I am a Cloverbud advisor for a local 4-H horse club. The Cloverbuds range in ages from 5 to 8 years old. I use this book a lot in my program. It has everything from the parts of the horse to different things you can do with them. This year we decided to use them as part of their year end awards. The drawings and information are phenomenal. My only complaint is that the breeds all look the same, but that's very minor compared to all the great information you get. This coloring book is suitable for any horse/pony lover of any age. Definitely not your ordinary coloring book.

this book doesn't leave much to the immagination when it comes to coloring.

but i was looking for a great coloring book to make page copies of to use as work sheets to teach girls (aged 9+) about horses.

theres some fun coloring pages like you can color their outfits and that requires imagination. but when it comes to the muscles, bones, saddle parts, and the like that teaches you about horses, it'd look silly colored the wrong colors.


so definately a book i can use! and a great book for older girls. (i would suggest 9-16). to either color or use as a learning tool.

I purchases this coloring book to use as resource material during my beginner riding camps. When you work with beginners between the ages of 6 yr. and 10 yr.; they love to color. Therefore, I find the information while they color to be beneficial and reinforce what I tell them when we are working with the horses, hands on. Thank you for creating this wonderful little coloring book.
