4.0 out of 5 stars Cute Illustrations, Rhyming Words, and Educational Story, November 15, 2012

I found myself smiling as I read this. The horse and hen take you all around the farm to count the different animals. While the pictures are absolutely simple and the items to be counted are identical to each other, I found the scenes to be humorous and frolicky. What I truly enjoyed is that after the horse and hen count to ten, they then ask the reader to count on his/her own by asking "How Many....".

I highly recommend this counting story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great counting book for toddlers November 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great counting book for toddlers. Obviously it counts to ten.
First, it goes through the story telling the child how many dogs, ducks, etc on the page.
Then it shows the same pages (minus the numbers) and asks the child how many are on each page. So the child can count for themselves.
Love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good counting book March 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really loved that the second half of the book asks to begin counting again so that I can practise numbers with my daughter. Being able to have the 1-10 descriptions and then asking how many of a certain number helps to instill not only counting but early memorization.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Counting Fun March 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Maisy Daniels has created an adorable book for very young children. The hen and horse in this book are very playful and appear in each picture along with the item/animal that is featured. There is one donkey, two cows, three squirrels, four cats, five bees, six dogs, seven pigs, eight sheep, nine ducks and ten eggs. Once the story is over it begins again but this time kids get to count for themselves. Like there is a donkey but hen and horse are not in the picture. They just ask questions about how many donkeys are in the picture. This goes on until the end of the book so your child gets to practise their counting skills. This book ends at 59% so it is a little longer than most children's Kindle picture books I've read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable July 24, 2014

This book is very cute...and educational! All of my sisters live me reading this book to them again and again! It is about counting mainly (as you already know from the title) and it give kids something to do when they are bored. Just say, "'Lets count to ten like horse and hen!" And sure enough they'll begin with you. Very cute book! Thank you very much Miss Maisy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Counting Book January 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is ideal for teaching toddlers how to count. The illustrations suit the story perfectly. After teaching children numbers one through ten, children are then prompted to look at the pictures to figure out how many items are in the illustrations.
