This is another great Horse Diary. Risky Chance is a believable and enjoyable main character, and the plot was very good and kept my attention, from when Chance begins racing to when he is claimed from owner to owner, to when he runs his last race. All of the human characters were well-developed as well, and, of course, Ruth Sanderson's beautiful pictures decorated the pages like always. I think this is one of the best Horse Diaries, and I would recommend along with the others.

My 7 year old who "hates to read" is now picking up this book with no prodding and happily reading, in the car, in the kitchen, in bed, etc. She loves that the series is written from the viewpoint of the horse. All of the bboks in the series are vastly different except for the story being told from the animals' voice. If you have a horse/animal lover child in your life,I bet they will they will enjoy this series.

I have the whole series of these books and have found this one to be the most compelling. I would easily classify this as my favorite. By the end my eyes were tear filled and I was longing for more. I am excited for #8: Black Cloud to be released. I will read it and share it with my classmates. I hope it is as good!

I have purchased this book as a continuation of the series for my niece who 1. loves horses (whis is what prompted me to purchase them in the first place) and 2. loves to read. Although she is past the age group for the series now, she still want to continue with them. If it has to do with horses she loves it!

I know, I'm a girl, but that doesn't mean I like things like Barbie dolls. So I can safetly say that this is not just a girls book.

Anyways, this book about a Thoroughbred horse, Risky Chance, who loves to race. He becomes a racehorse and wins eight races in a row. The his jockey gets injured. His jockey, Wolf, cannot ride him, so a cruel jockey called Stubby rides him. Stubby whips Risky Chance, so Risky Chance loses. Since Risky Chance lost, he gets sold. I am not going to tell you the rest.

I enjoyed this book, and I hope you will too. This is The Cat in The Hat, signing off. Happy Reading

My daughter loves this series of books! She is crazy about horses and particularly likes the fact that these books are told from the horse's perspective! It is sometimes very difficult getting kids to read - I have found books that utilize animals as characters are very engaging for young readers. My daughter also loves that each book has a different author because she feels it gives the reader more variety with the characters especially since each story is told by a horse. Happy reading!

[Review written by 12 year old daughter] A very touching story told straight from a horse's mouth! It is probably my favorite book in the series. Risky Chance is a lovable horse from colthood to stallionhood. He ended up right where he needed to be. I really love this book.
