5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for all readers that covers a lot of information!
This book covers the orgins of the horse and how they spread, their domestication, as well as working horses, horses in war, and the sporting horse. How horses think, learn, hear, and communicate are very informative and interesting. The book also explains the points of the horse, colors and markings, how the horse moves, coat and grooming, teeth and hooves, breeding,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Info on Horses
But the breed section has a fatal flaw. All the conformation pictures are drawn! I was surprised at this. The begining of this book is nice, breeding, reproduction, communication, etc. The breed section is small compared to other books and photos are rare but it is easy to read and understand. I would recomend it for the younger horse lover.

This book covers the orgins of the horse and how they spread, their domestication, as well as working horses, horses in war, and the sporting horse. How horses think, learn, hear, and communicate are very informative and interesting. The book also explains the points of the horse, colors and markings, how the horse moves, coat and grooming, teeth and hooves, breeding, foalhood, and health. In the second half of the book, it discusses the various breeds according to the area they originated from and has drawings of each breed as well as key facts, ancestry, and history/current use. It is "the indispensable fact-finder for everyone interested in horses, horse car, or riding." I have used this book over and over and have gained lots of knowledge through this book. It is written in a very clear and easy-to-understand format by experts.
