I dunno. The horses are cool, they're really pretty and have great graphics and I like the scavenger hunt.....but this can't compare to Let's Ride. Let's Ride rocks! I have every single Let's Ride cd and the best two are the Rosemond Hill Collection and Equestriad 2001. The rest are just....you know. And Mary King's Riding Star isn't too good. It is really...

Championship Season is a pretty good game, but not all of its points are perfect-some good and some bad. Anyway, I'll get to the good stuff first, then the bad stuff.

Good stuff: There are many interactive things to do at the stables like looking after the horses, a treasure hunt, and earning horse credits. The horses look realistic and act realistic somewhat. The events are fun especially the show jumping and when you're in the practice area (where you learn how to control the horse,) you can ride around and practice a little for the events.

Bad Stuff: What ticks me off is that there's only four horses in the game (Barney, Thistle, Taffy, and Blaze.) Plus there's a goat, but you really can't do anything with it. The levels 4 and 5 are impossible to do perfectly and in dressage, you lose most of your points when straying off just a tad. If you fall off alot during show jumping and cross country, it gets pretty annoying. What really makes me mad is that you can't edit the name, color, or level of any the horses. Nor pick a horse you want to ride until you have enough horse credits.

However, the game is pretty fun. I also recommend Horse Racing by Radishworks, it's fun, but all the black horses aren't really black, some are dark bay.

Warning! Don't get Let's Ride and Barbie's Race and Ride! These games aren't realistic nor fun (to me anyway.) In Let's Ride, you actually have to listen more about the riding than actually doing it, in other words, you don't really ride the horse. The horses look cartoony and the graphics are poor. The dressage is impossible, show jumping is ok, and cross country is a bit difficult for you bump into the jumps than jump over them. In Barbie, the horses are all mares, you can tell because of the HUGE eyelashes. The horses aren't realistic nor is the care of the horses.

I'm getting Equestriad 2001, I heard it's the best game! I also recommend Willowbrook Stables, but you have to have a good game card plus some of the clues you get are impossible to solve!

I have every single Let's Ride cd and the best two are the Rosemond Hill Collection and Equestriad 2001. The rest are just....you know. And Mary King's Riding Star isn't too good. It is really realistic, and you get to groom your horse and everything, but besides that there's not much to do. You can do competitions and everything, but they aren't very fun at all.
Overall, the horse game on this cd isn't very good. The competitions you get in aren't fun at all, really. It just didn't amuse me that much.
For anyone who is thinking of getting Equestriad 2001, get it! It is majorly awesome. It is probably one of the best horse games I have ever played. So if you do get it, here's two cheats (I'm not sure what the first one does) MR HAPPY and NEW YEARS EVE
Thanks!

2.0 out of 5 stars Could have made much better!, October 25, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Horse Illustrated / Championship Cheerleading (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
This game was interesting for the first few weeks then I got to the 5 level and it wasn't fun anymore. They could of made it more exciting, which they didn't. The good things are that you can jump which is really exciting. The bad things are that theres only 4 horses and you can't do anything to them, also they are really slow.Another reason is I wish you could put leg wraps on and bell boots or splints on the horses. If anyone finds a game that you can jump and do other stuff please do a reveiw on it because i love jumping in real life on my friends Thoroughbred and competing in events around where i live.THankz

4.0 out of 5 stars Aged Yet Amusing, February 22, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Horse Illustrated / Championship Cheerleading (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I owned this game as a child, back when it first came out in 2000. I played it all the time and really enjoyed it. At the time, I played a lot of horse games because I was no longer taking horse-riding lessons. This was by far my favorite one and I played it off and on for years until the CD broke. Recently, I wanted to play it again so I searched around on Amazon and found this version (the same one I used to own) for an amazing used price.

The basics: there are four horses to ride, but only one is available at the start of the game. You have to unlock the other horses by earning credits. You earn credits by competing in events, doing the scavenger hunt, answering trivia questions and caring for the horses. There are three events to compete in: Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. There are five levels of each event, which also need to be unlocked with credits.

This game is a lot of fun and is still enjoyable to play after you've unlocked everything. The riding graphics/animations are not the best (keep in mind that the game is ten years old) - but the barn is incredibly realistic and the horses themselves are adorable and lifelike.

Of all the horse games I've ever played, and I've played most of them, this is the one I always come back to. It's simply the best overall horse game experience.

Also, I suggest you look up the games you're interested in on YouTube before you buy anything. Most video games have at least one video showing the graphics and gameplay, so you can decide whether or not it would suit you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good game to keep you occupied., November 18, 2003
This review is from: Horse Illustrated / Championship Cheerleading (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
Well, in my opinion, this is a great game, though it does get rather minotinous after awhile. It would be better if there were more horses, if the Dressage actaully gave you a decent score (drops you back to zero for no reason), if it actually worked on win 2000 (like my box said it would, then the support site refused to admit). The cross country is tough, and so is the dressage. But the show jumping is really great, and you can just fly along to get high scores.

The tresure hunt, and horse questions are fun, but the goat is pointless. Cleaning stalls loses it's fun after awhile too. Feeding is difficult b/c one of the stalls is labeled wrong.

While not at the same level as Equestriad, it is better than Mary King (which is amoung the worst games ever), and provides good entertainment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Three Day Eventing game, June 22, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Horse Illustrated / Championship Cheerleading (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I hope we're talking about the Farnam Three Day Eventing game. Anyway, this game is AUESOME!I got mine for 15.00 and I love it. It's worth the money. But...
Downpoints:

Only four horses. Only five levels. You can't change the way you or the horses look.Example: No blondes riding a leopard Appaloosa. The horses don't act differently from each other. Can't name the horses. No trail rides in this game.

Goodpoints:

The horses aren't slow. Fun trivia questions. A VERY fun treasure hunt. Fun jumping. Up to eight friends can play with you. Fun looking at all the things in the tack room.

note: I cannot find out how to compete against the computer. This game is good for a person who likes to go on the computer for ten minutes just playing a quick horsey game.Stay away from Farnam Rodeo. BIG waste of money!

4.0 out of 5 stars Horse Illustrated-Championship season, May 18, 2003
By A Customer

Good game, most of the fun is in the stables.
there's a scavenger hunt that's fun and their's trivia questions.
you can feed, water, clean out stalls, groom & tack up your horse. My 7yr. old niece loved it and learned a lot from it!
But for true horse lovers the ultimite horse game is WILLOWBROOK STABLES!!!!! This game is AWESOME!!!
It is so real like! You can gallop through water jump fences and logs and hedges everywhere!!
You can ride ANYWHERE on the whole Island, plus solve a mystery!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Game, September 27, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Horse Illustrated / Championship Cheerleading (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
I think this game is great. I had a little trouble in the cross-country at first, but then I found you had to jump farther away from the jump than in the show jumping.
It's very addictive, and if I start playing it, I'll play it for hours.
Dressage is kind of boring, but it's not like you have to do that...
I would recommend this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best horse sim available, August 6, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Horse Illustrated / Championship Cheerleading (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
So what if there are only four horses??? If you know WHERE to jump, you won't fall off! This game is so great...... It's hard not to love it because there are these dumpy other ones (i.e. Barbie Riding Club - ugh - and Let's Ride).
I haven't tried Willowbrook but everyone's crazy about it. Farnam Rodeo is great... So's Horseracing. Is Mary King Riding Star good? I dunno.... This game does crash my computer but I LUV it anyway!!! It's really worth it if you want a great horse sim. Can't say anymore now! See ya!

This game is interesting until you beat all the levels and set all the high scores or time records. After that, this game is very POINTLESS! Unless you are getting this for a youngster, BEWARE!
