When I read this book for the first time I was surprised by how completely it covered all the topics. It is a great book for the beginning rider. It helps that it is very specific. I found the tips for problem horses helpful. The only thing I found lacking is general horse care.

This book is wonderful! After reading Horses for Dummies, Getting the Most From Riding Lessons, etc., I can truly say I've learned the most from this book. It is written in easy-to-understand English with illustrations describing everything. I would recommend it to anyone!

This is a great book for beginning riders, but it doesn't cover cantering and jumping much. You would be better of buying this book if you have JUST started riding.

This book is wonderful, concise and great for the visual learner..the concepts are explained in thorough detail..I used this book when I started to ride and now use it as a great reference book...my horse was being ridden as an english school horse, and I ride western..I was having problems with the "whoa"..I wasn't using the proper cues...Looked it up in this book and it all came clear as to what I was doing wrong, and how to fix it...I now have a horse who stops immediately and gently...This book also helped me with the proper positioning for the Western jog/trot..great book for me...going up hill? all the info is here...you won't be sorry if you get this book...

This book exceeded my expectations. Very well written with beautiful pictures. The information in this book has helped me become a confident rider. I will purchase the others books because this one was so good.

Terrific book for the novice or the "back to the ring" adult rider. The photos, descriptions and tone of the book make it a real "page turner."
