This is the best quality horse hair I ever worked with. It is strong and NOT brittle. Price is excellent.

This saved me some time and money rehairing. The hair was clean and seemed to grab the strings ok.

plenty of extra material, though It could have used a little less glue on the ends, I cut that end off and rewired it, used a little glue, then took a lighter to fuse the hairs a little more. but no biggie

great product

I'm only a 'weekend warrior' when it comes to fiddling. I don't need anything super fancy, so I think this hair will be just fine for my bow. I haven't had a chance to visit a luthier to have it put onto my bow yet.

I had an old cheap violin bow with no hair left that was not worth the money to have re-haired. Thought I'd risk the few bucks for this and try to do it myself. You can Google some good sites which explain how to rehair a bow, but unless you are very skilled (and brave) I wouldn't try it on an expensive bow.

Bows are mostly kind of held together with little wooden wedges and metal bands which slip in place to hold it together. In theory they just pop cleanly apart when you do it right. Pretty scarey though. Turns out my cheap bow was all glued together, obviously with no thought to ever re-hairing, which means I kind of had to butcher it to get it apart. I was therefore also force to use a lot of glue to get it back together, so it's not a very professional looking job. None the less, the result is a very playable bow again. My son and daughter both use it for practice and can make it sing - they say it works great. So - if you are determined to rehair your own bow, this product should work for you. I used the entire amount to do the one violin bow. Good luck!

As advertised, and though I'm no expert, I was able to build a bow for my medieval rebec, and it plays nicely!
