Their best live record!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Horse With No Name (Audio CD)
Recorded live in a German TV studio in 1975. Their only live album with all three original members. It catches them in their prime. Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek dominate the performance. Hits like Horse With No Name, I Need You, Ventura Highway, Don't Cross The River, and Lonely People are very well done. This is the best vesion of Tin Man that I have ever heard. Also has very powerful renditions of Moon Song, California Revisited, and Green Monkey.

CLASSIC ROCK!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Horse With No Name (Audio CD)
If you enjoy classic rock, this is the America album for you. Recorded when they were in their youthful prime, this album is more proof that America could really rock. Comes with both an audio and video CD, so you can watch the performance on your PC.

Classic rock at it's best!,

Recorded for a German TV show in 1975, this is probably the best "live" recording of America available, and the only one with all three original members. I captures them at their creative peak. A must for America fans and 1970's classic rock fans.

America's 3 Original Members In 1975 Rehearsal Captured "Live" In Germany.,

This is a 2 disc set with CD and Video CD.
To start with the Video CD, with help from a teenage son (thanks Mark), I watched the concert rehearsal on my computer and what a performance it was! Backed by a bass player and drummer the band demonstrate their talents with clear, commited and heartfelt harmonies, acoustic guitars, then harmonica, electric guitars and piano/keyboards. The joy of playing and professionalism combine to ensure some of the best 1970s rock I have ever seen, sadly after the departure of Dan Peek in 1977 they were never quite the same. The electric guitars come to the fore in Moon Song and California Revisited. Anyone who thinks America were lightweight copycats should check this out, as a result they may form a more positive opinon. At 45 minutes of high class music this is difficult to beat. Now the CD I expected to be an audio version of the above, the same songs, yes, but then I found several had been cut short to reach a total time of 38 minutes! Why this happened is a complete mystery and the only disappointment (slight) concerning this fantastic recording. I recommend this especially to any America fans, also fans of 1970s rock will enjoy it too. |
