This book provides direction to horse owners or their advisors on developing a business plan for a horse business of any kind-racing, breeding, performance, etc. It is especially helpful in creating a business summary which will be useful when a horse operation is being audited under Section 183 of the Internal Revunue Code to determine it the operation is a "business" or a "hobby". Samples of business plans are included along with forms. The cover of the book can be utilized by the horse owner for his or her business plan. Supplements are issued to the book from time to time and any issued within 6 months of purchase will be provided at no charge to the purchaser.

Kenneth A. Wood has been a practicing attorney for over 30 years and has represent horse owners and organizations throught the country on various legal and tax matters. He was educated at the Anderson School of Business and the Law School at the University of California (UCLA). He has conducted seminars throughout the U.S. was the author of "Law, Taxes and Horses' a syndicated column which ran in many equine publications. Wanting tips on setting up a business plan I purchased this book hoping to glean a few useful pointers. After reviewing for few minutes this badly reproduced (on a poor quality copier; yes really) pages and forms I was disappointed. It has many forms that appear to have been produced prior to the computer age, which is humorous in that with the purchase of this "book" you are on the author's mailing list for updates. One has to wonder what the "updates" would include. As for the text it's self, I have seen better-organized and more comprehensive reports from high school students. Instead of purchasing this book, spend a few hours on the web researching the subjects of interest. It will have been time better spent and money not wasted.

It will assist any horseowner or professional in covering all of the various aspects of a horse business. The book is very useful in covering all the areas that might be audited by the IRS.
