3.0 out of 5 stars Might not be for the long haul!, February 2, 2009
This review is from: Horse Or Unicorn Pantastic Pan (Kitchen)
I bought this cake pan for my daughter's birthday cake. The cake baked evenly and came out smoothly, but instructions included say the pan will break down eventually. It's not made of metal or silicone, but I thought a product I bought to make cakes with should be able to make cakes until I don't need it anymore! So far, I have seen no sign of wear on it, and I used it 4 times in one night (BIG party).
I did not follow the instructions on how to make the horse's body (I believe it was something about candy???) but it still came out wonderfully being decorated with different frostings and tips. Would make a wonderful cake for that horse lover in all of us!

Horse Or Unicorn Pantastic PanI was very pleased with the pan and it made a great cake for my grandson's 3rd Birthday. I did the horse with the melted chocolate. He loved it. I like the idea that you could use the pan for a candy mold as well as cake. The design came out very clear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Made a beautiful cake for my daughter!, October 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Horse Or Unicorn Pantastic Pan (Kitchen)
I made this horse cake for my 3 year old daughter. I did not put enough butter in the mold when I did the cake, and so it broke as I was trying to pop it out. The horse shape then was not noticeable. I was not too sure how to cover it, and did not like the instructions in the pan (recommend using some chocolate candy from industry, but I had no idea where to find that -and wanted to do something home made. I then spent a lot of time in the internet to find out the best way to cover such a cake, and ended putting apricot jelly on top, followed with chocolate butter glaze, to keep it moist, and then I did a marshmallow fondant, which I put inside the horse pan and in the freezer for 15 minutes. It came out very well, although it was all white. I am not a professional baker and did not prepare fondants of many colours, but I ended melting chocolate and using a brush to paint the hooves and spots (pinto style), and using a small brush and food colouring to cover the background in green and blue. It was a success and my daughter was very happy with the results. Good mold overall, but you need to know how to handle the glaze and fondants (which I did not). It is in plastic but will probably last several years (no sign of wear at all after one use). Good luck!
