Fantastic, Exciting Program, October 29, 2004
This review is from: Horseback Riding for America: The Olympic Equestrian Team (DVD)
Although it appears to have been produced in the mid-80s, this film presents quality information on the tradition and theory of horsemanship, and the excitement of the Olympic Equestrian Team's preparation and competition.
Indeed, the production standards (duration of interviews, information presented in the narration, quality of footage and camerawork) actually *exceeds* many programs being produced these days. This seems almost like a "National Geographic" or "NOVA" special. The only way you'd know it was 20 or so years old is because of the hairstyles and the dates on the show rounds.
VERY informative, entertaining, and educational. Would appeal to any sports fan, even if they were not a horse lover. Would also appeal to all age levels - children (though by no means "dumbed down"). to seniors. to your couch potato hockey fan hubby (trust me on that - mine was RAPT and was almost late to go ref a game because he couldn't tear himself away from the jumping section!)
For the horsey set, you will be on the edge of your seat while watching the competitions, and moved by the riders' thoughtful reflections on what riding and horses mean to them. The footage is of such good quality that your own riding will no doubt improve just from seeing it. I felt like I'd had a workout by the time I stopped the DVD, I was so tense - it felt like I was right there.
And these must be the most *beautiful* horses I have ever seen, at the top of their form...
Just great. So glad I purchased it - I think you will be, too.
