Book Description

Harlequin Historical March 1, 2010

Not even a remote Colorado ranch can shelter Jace Denby while he's on the run. He voluntarily took the blame for his brother-in-law's murder, but one danger this fugitive doesn't see coming is impulsive Clara Seavers. With the law on his back he must leave, though her beauty and fierce courage entice him to stay....

Clara doesn't trust this hired farmhand, but she can't deny the rugged, unexpectedly caring man ignites her spirit...and heart. The more Jace fights their mounting passion, the more she'll risk to make him hers forever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Loved the details, but not the characters, March 24, 2010
This review is from: The Horseman's Bride (Harlequin Historical) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really don't have strong feelings one way or another on this one. I truly loved the historical details, the "old" meets "new" ( buggies, wagons and horseback vs automobiles, frontier medicine meets "modern" medicine, etc), however I couldn't help but think that Clara was a smidge too progressive for the time period. I also liked how this "western" was set a little later than usual (just after World War I). As for plot and characters, I wasn't drawn into the story. I thought that there was a bit too much going on in a relatively short time frame (I could expand, but don't wish to spoil the plot if you plan to read the book). Perhaps if the characters had been developed a bit differently, I wouldn't feel the couple so mismatched - in age, maturity, ambition, background. Overall, I wouldn't recommend buying this one - maybe borrow it to see what you think.

4.0 out of 5 stars very entertaining, March 12, 2011

I felt this story flowed very well. I liked the characters, but I had also read the first novel in this series, "The Borrowed Bride", which I think helped with getting a better background and understanding. The main two characters were 10 years apart, which I didn't think was too drastic. I enjoyed this novel, especially after reading the first.
