More About the Author

Lynghaug was raised in the Twin City area of Minnesota, to a large family of 10. She got her first horse when 18, and was Miss Minnesota Pinto Horse Queen at 19. She has been active in horse breeding, competitions, and training ever since.

She is also interested in dogs, and has bred, trained, and showed her collie to be the #1 collie female (#3 collie) in the U.S., as well as winning a Utility obedience degree, a simultaneous and most difficult endeavor to achieve. She was editor of a canine newsletter and was active in several breed organizations.

Her involvement with equine and canine organizations and their editorial staffs were a foundation for her books.

She attributes her successes to her faith in God.

She has been married for 39 years and has 5 grown children. She has two published horse breed books.

I bought this for my granddaughter but found it wasn't age-appropriate for her. My fault. Having read through it before gifting I found it very informative and learned much about breeds unknown to me before. A good read for horse-lovers but not for a young child. Older children could use the info for school reports perhaps. As a young girl I would have worn out the pages just looking at the pictures.

Fran Lynghaug packs a lot of info into this book with great breed photos. Easy to read and compact.
