Excelent info, comprehensive,

This is the most comprehensive book on saddle fitting that I have ever read. Excellent info and very good diagrams and illustrations. Everything is clear and understandable, and there are tests you can do on your own horse to make sure his saddle fits correctly and to check for pain and/or pressure points. Even if you're horse isn't having back problems, this is an excellent resourse that every horse owner or enthusiast should read and use.

I thought this was a very good book. Full of information. The only problem I had with it is she only talks about english saddles. I would still recommend it if you ride western though because there is alot of information that will help you.

Absolutely Clear and Thorough!,

Great information, tons of pictures, clear concepts...all very helpful in allowing one to consider all aspects of saddle fit (not just width) for both equine and rider. I am shopping for a new saddle for a very big and hard to fit mule, and find this book has given me a lot more confidence in assessing different saddles, including my current one. Highly recommended.

Should be mandatory reading!,
This review is from: The Horse's Pain-Free Back and Saddle-Fit Book (Paperback)
I am so far only on page 95 but I had to go ahead and write a review, because I wish I'd read this book ten years ago-- I thought I knew at least the basics of saddle fitting but already I realize that I've been an ignoramus all these years, and still have a huge amount to learn. I would say that this book is very in-depth but not beyond the average horse person to understand. It does focus on English saddles, but also reveals important saddle fitting points that are very relevant to Western or Aussie styles. I'd highly recommend this book to any horse person.

This book is extremely helpful in finding the correct fit for your horse. She covers many types of saddles, including treeless, and pads. It could save you a lot of $$$ in the long run.

This is the best book I have ever looked at about saddles, how they are built, how they work and why badly fitting saddles cause so many problems with horse behaviour. The diagrams and photos are so easy to follow with the captions beside each example. In Australia, this book is the Saddle Fitters Bible and I can see why. I would recommend it to everyone who has a horse.

BUST the saddle fit myths!,
By
This review is from: The Horse's Pain-Free Back and Saddle-Fit Book (Paperback)
I have ridden and trained horses for over thirty years and I was very impressed with this book! It breaks up common myths about saddles, saddle fit and horses. What if your horse's bad attitude was from back pain? What if it was a simple saddle repair that put you both back on the road to sound and safe riding? This book takes the saddle literally from the ground up from the styles and construction of the tree to the leather that ultimately goes over the top. It describes: seat styles, stirrup position and how it affects you ability to effectively communicate with your horse, bars and how important they are to a correct fit, Seat size and how to measure they way the saddle maker intended not they way the saddle shops do, how to test and measure your current saddle and horse for a correct fit and some reccomendations for changes to make to enhance that fit for both you and your horse. Really this is one of the best books currently on the market for saddle information. There are some refrences to English saddle and fit for comparison between the western saddle and the english saddle. If you want to break the myths and solve some mysteries about how and why, then I would suggest this book!

This book is a must for anyone riding horses. Unfortunately my horse went lame before I realised how badly my saddle was fitting him and me. This book showed clearly why he was sore and then showed me what to do about it. It will make a great reference book for any new saddles.

I gave this book to my grenddaughter for Christmas this year. She hasn't had time to read it yet. She loves horses and I am sure she will enjoy it.
