This is a really great book for kids who love horses - and our kids do! Now, our kids want to save all the wild horses in the world. They've read this book over and over.

This is a perfect book for my great-granddaughter.
She loves horses; they have a barn in their yard. They have 3 horses at present. She's only 7 so her riding is limited now, but she loves everythng with horses, including her clothing. Delivery was good; the price was good, but I still think shipping is quite high. But it is sure very easy to shop on line.

A Kid's Review

This is a good book of information. It's really cool to learn about wild horses and how it was for them back almost six million years ago or more! It's cool to know information about wild horses. I never knew they could be so interesting! I love to read about how they dealt with things like swimming from one island to another. I know I would hardly be able to move on that little space on Assateague if I was one of those poor horses. I can't believe people fenced it off like that just for wild birds! Do you have to fence off part of a horse's island for WILD BIRDS? Seriously, it was just terrible for them. Mostly because for a while the horses had nothing to eat but poison ivy and even worse, drink salt water from the ocean! I think it could be very interesting to learn about wild horses and how they lived back then! It is a very good book!

This book shows the basic life of wild horses in the old west. Stanley must have spent some time observing them, because he points out, in a very kid-oriented fashion, many aspects of their lives. It's a little dull for youngsters (unless they are obsessed with horses, of course) but it is informative and the illustrations are lovely and possess the same passion as the text.
