Build quality seems good enough.

If you have headphones with a 1/4" plug at the end, you can use the phones with small devices like the iPod without putting a strain on the 3.5mm input.

I like the right angled plug on this adapter.

This adapted the hell out of my 1/4" cable. It's a super adapter. Got an 1/8" hole and a 1/4" plug? BLAMMO! Adapted.

My wife often uses studio-type around-the-ear headphones to listed to her MacBook.

Naturally, these headphones have a 1/4" plug, and the MacBook has the standard 3.5mm jack.

Add a 3.5mm adaptor to the already large 1/4" plug, and you have several inches of accident-prone lever-arm sticking out of the earphone jack of the MacBook.

Bad plan. Disaster waiting to happen.

I got this adaptor for her to reduce the odds of disaster -- it puts a flexible cord between the 1/4 inch connectors and the 3.5mm plug, and the 3.5 mm is a nice, low-leverage right-angle plug.

The HOSA adaptor came in a retail package exactly as shown in the product listing, and appears to be robust and competent.

The only way it could be improved would be Amazon free shipping. All of the vendors for this product are charging more for shipping than the product price.

It works well with my Sennheiser HD555 Professional Headphones with Sound Channeling and my laptop's headphone input socket. however the 1/8th inch is a bit too narrow? not sure what's the word for it. but it easily slides out from the audio jack on my laptop. and sometimes it'd slip out without me intending to.

My grado headphones have the huge plug on them so this down sizes it to a standard right angle headphone jack that can plug into my computer without the fear of having a larger adapter sticking out just asking for damage via pure leverage. If I accidentally walked away from my computer with my headphones on, this would prevent permanent damage.

I have a pair of Denon D7000 headphones. It has the 1/4" plug and so, naturally, I went looking for an adapter for when I need to use my laptop or Cowon D2 as my source. I read on Head-Fi that the Grado adapter was a quality built adapter so I spent the $15 (more than I wanted to spend) to buy quality. Well, it showed up in the mail and was defective, with one channel continuously cutting in and out. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical of the Grado upon seeing it, because the 1/8" part was a straight plug and not a right angle plug. In my mind, if you have the weight of a beefy 1/4" plug plus the female adapter hanging off of the smaller 1/8" plug (which inevitably happens due to that whole gravity situation), you are asking for trouble down the road (shorting out). So, when the more expensive Grado came defective, I was immediately drawn to this guy, which has the right angle plug to carry the weight when necessary. The stack of positive reviews for this adapter is considerable, and now I am happy to say I can add to the pile. I am at Starbucks and buzzing off of coffee and the crystal clear sound of Yo-Yo Ma (FLAC) coursing through my senses. A good buy.

I have both this and the Grado 1/8 inch adapter which goes from 1/4. It's pretty simple, the Grado has a much better build quality. The Hosa works most of the time but usually once per use a channel will drop out and I'll have to fiddle with the 1/4 female connection to get both channels working. Definitely not good if you plan on moving at all while wearing a headphone. Get the Grado, it's worth the few extra bucks!

I had bought a cheap 1/4" to 1/8" adapter to show my friends my new headphones. I was pretty surprised to discover that my cell phone could provide enough power to headphones for good listening.
The problem though is that the cheap adapter would wobble and sometimes lose the connection completely. Not to mention I now had a 3" headphone jack sticking out of my phone, not very practical. I saw this adapter and ordered it immediately.
This thing is perfect. It gives a me a solid connection between my phone and my headphones. I don't have to worry about the jack breaking and I can actually put my phone in my pocket now while listening.

I bought some new speakers and my existing adapter had too much plastic padding around the 3.5 mm plug. This adapter was minimally padded, and is very secure.

I also like the right angle so it's not sticking out 3 inches from my speaker. It adds a bit of length to the overall cable, so that may be beneficial as well.
