Nice to have when you want private TV audio,

Upon purchasing my new Sharp LCD flat panel TV a few months back I discovered the set came without a headphone jack. Why manufacturers insist on doing this is beyond me as I know a lot of consumers would like the option of private listening. Living in a condominum where high decible sound travels to adjoining units can put me at odds with my neighbors so headphones are nice to have. Sometimes a movie has erratic sound levels and portions of dialogue are not audible or when my dishwasher and electric baseboard heater compete with TV sound or when I want to hear a music concert I find headphones are a nice option. It was then I heard about the Hosa CFR 210. I ordered the product on Amazon and ..well..after a simple hookup to my two audio outlets that took all of 10 seconds I had headphone sound! The Hosa product has a 10 foot line and all you do is plug your phones into it and you're in business. One little negative to all this is (at least with my set)is that the volume on the phones remains the same (adequate)regardless of how high or low you set the TVs volume via your remote. My phones have their own volume control so this really poses no problem as I can turn the sound up or down anyway. I highly recommend the Hosa CFR 210.

Exactly what I was looking for,

EXACTLY what I was looking for. This one is 10 feet. If you want it just to use as an adapter, you want the 6 inch version: Cables To Go Hi-Clarity audio cable - 6 in ( 03182 ) You can accomplish the same thing with various, more common adapters (of course) but stringing them end to end started to get a little ugly. So I went online and found exactly what I was looking for. What I'm sure most people (even you) will be using this for is plugging headphones or computer speakers to the audio-out ports on a TV or game console. If you're using amplified computer speakers with their own volume, perfect. If you're using headphones, you'll need to get an in-line volume control or else, as said in another review, the volume cannot be turned up or down. Here's the one I bought. Koss VC20 Volume Control

I wanted a way to use headphones (or in my case, earbuds) with my TV. This cable seemed like the most inexpensive solution. I was a bit concerned before buying this because some reviews suggested that you wouldn't be able to adjust the volume without an inline volume control. My TV is a Toshiba Regza 37CV510U 720p and this cable works just fine with it. When I go into the audio settings and turn the TV speakers off, my earbuds pick up the audio and I am able to adjust the volume using the TV remote. The cable is also sufficiently long, so I don't have to use any kind of extension cable.Just a few other observations... I have to turn the TV volume up quite a bit compared to when the sound is just playing through the TV speakers. I usually keep the volume around 20 when playing through the TV speakers, but I have to turn it up to at least 40-50 when using my earbuds. However, this may be more attributable to my TV and/or earbuds rather than the cable itself. I also noticed a considerable amount of static when watching a DVD on my Playstation 2. Again, this is probably being caused by my TV and/or PS2, not the cable.
