Worked flawlessly for me! Cheapest solution!,

I bought this for a discounted price of 10.00 on a different site. I was skeptical after reading a few reviews but it was the cheapest solution for a MIDI to USB cable so I decided to take a chance for that price. I had little faith, but as soon as I plugged it into my MIDI controller, turned the controller on and hooked the USB end to my PC, voila! It set up a generic MIDI setup and after opening Cubase, it actually worked right! I also tried using it with my standalone VSTs and it also worked! The pitch bend wheel on my controller was even recognized.I have to note that I'm on Win 7 Ultimate. This device worked as stated, plug n play, no drivers needed unless you have a specific controller which has drivers which help performance. In my case I have an old 80s Yamaha SHS-10 keytar, so of course there are no drivers for this anywhere. As long as you set this cable(or any other for that matter) up correctly you will have no problems. Here's the order you should go in: 1. Install any drivers for your controller if applicable. Many use the "Windows USB Audio Device(generic controller)" 2. Connect the controller to the PC or mac via the USB-A 2.0 connection of the cable. IMPORTANT: Turn on your controller and follow the installation procedure. It should say 'connected.' If your controller is a synth, keyboard or something else with its own internal speakers, you may want to turn them down via the controller's Volume keys. 3. Start your standalone VST, DAW or whatever program you want the MIDI controller to control and enjoy!

I used this cable on my Windows 7 home premium system and just plugged it in and worked with with
my MIDI keyboards with no problems. Works with the built in Windows drivers. Did not need to load anything special. DT

Looking for a refund!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I purchased this for my son who wanted to connect his electric keyboard to the computer and utilize the MIDI component. He was so excited he got this as a Christmas gift and went to use it immediately. That was the start of his disappointment and frustration. It did not work! We tried researching the computer components (it is a new Mac), went to the Apple Store to make sure we were doing things correctly and even contacted the keyboard manufacturer (Yamaha). When we tried another keyboard and still nothing happened, we looked at the cable further and saw a cut in the one end where internal wires were exposed!! The packaging had been in poor shape and it had looked like it was badly repackaged but we had hoped that it didn't matter. We then went to the store, bought another similar cable and it worked right away. I believe it was not the manufacturer of the cable (we purchased the new cable from the same maker (Hosa), but rather the place we purchased it from through Amazon that was at fault. We will not buy from them again!
