Thoughtful. Gentle. And to the point, what to expect when you're facing this life changing decision. --EJ Thornton - author of Angel On Board

About the Author

Dr. Seiden s expertise with hospice is two fold, through over 40 years of medical practice, advising patients and their families in making their final decisions and more important, from the knowledge he gained when his mother-in-law entered hospice and five years later when his own wife of 48 years entered hospice at the end of her battle with lung cancer.

Dr. Bilett s expertise comes from over 30 years in private practice in clinical psychology, and her experience dealing with the stresses of patients and their families facing their terminal time and the grief that follows for those family members and loved ones who must move on after the loss of their loved one.

More About the Author

I do not have a literary background, though I did a year of graduate study at the University of Missouri School of Journalism, my real background is medical. I graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1964 and practiced for 44 years, first as a General Practitioner, and the last 30 as an E.R. doc. I began writing as an avocation to help me unwind after a long day in the E.R. My writing went in two directions, one Historical Fiction, and the other Medical Self-Help, my forte translating medical information into easily understood lay language. In recent years that Self-Help has been more in the direction of Baby Boomer and senior health and emotional problems.
My Historical Novels deal mainly with Judaical, Holocaust, and Biblical History. Most of my books are both in print and on Amazon Kindle. Please enjoy! With over 40 books published by 10 different publishers I've been named Colorado's most prolific author. Google Othniel Seiden

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard decisions about hospice made simpler with knowledge, October 4, 2008
This review is from: The Hospice Experience - making your most important final decision (Perfect Paperback)
Our decision to put my mother into hospice was made alot simpler by opening our eyes to the many pros and few cons of the hospice option.

Ask the questions they suggest in this book and you will find the answers you are looking for and know with certainty that this either is or isn't the option for you or your loved on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A last important decission, July 21, 2011
As a physician, I've had more experience with impending death than I care to remember. I have had to help many distraught patients make end of life decisions, but not until my own wife of 48 years was terminally ill with cancer, did I fully realize the difficulty of making the final end of life decisions.

Thankfully the remarkable people that work in Hospice Care made these difficult days more tolerable for both my wife and me.

I wrote this book to help others in this difficult life cycle period.

How does one decide on a hospice?
Is hospice for you?
Home hospice or a hospice facility?
What should you expect of your hospice?
What questions should you ask?
What will hospice Not Do?

These are but a few of the topics this book will help you with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real-life Hospice information to make this difficult choice a little easier, August 27, 2008
Our decision to put my mother into hospice was made alot simpler by doing some research into the pros and cons of the hospice experience. Hospice has many pros and relatively few cons and it is a valid option to explore. There are different types of hospices - I didn't know that before I read the book.

The Dr's in the book suggest certain questions be asked and if you ask them you will get the answers you need such that you can make an informed decision.
