Excellent resource book for chaplains
As a second year CPE student I found the book to be an excellent handbook to keep on the shelves. I borrowed it from our hospital chaplain, and am hoping to find a copy to purchase. Unfortunately, it appears to be out of print.

Outdated reprint
I was disappointed tofind that this is a reprint of a 1985 book. While some chapters have good content, they are in great need of updating. Healthcare and Chaplaincy have changed quite a bit since 1985! Don't spend your money on this when other works are available.

The role of a hospital chaplain is new to me, and this book did a great job in setting expectations in a clear and helpful manner. I recommend Hospital Ministry - The Role of the Chaplain Today for both the new (for expectations and insights) and experience (as an affirmation) chaplains
