5.0 out of 5 stars Very Original, May 1, 2007
This review is from: The Host (Plastic Comb)
Rosen is an excellent writer. Her vampire trilogy is fresh and original when a lot of books in vampire literature are telling the same old story again and again. This is not an Anne Rice rip-off, or your oh so sexy vampires a'la Laurell K. Hamilton. I'm not a fan of comb bound books, but fortunately these books are being released in 2007 as traditional trade paperbacks! The Host is due in May 2007.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your ordinary vampire novel., August 11, 1999

Really good book. It was a different concept for a vampire novel. The characterization was good. Having grown up near Arkansas - I know that I have meet one or two or the characters in this book. Tracy is an excellent lead character. I would highly recommend reading this book!

I started reading this book at 11 PM, and couldn't put it down till I finished it at 1:30 AM (a couple of hours after my normal bedtime). Excellent local color--I felt like I was in Jones Port, Arkansas. A spine chilling story of vampires among rednecks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vampires....as actual villians, March 6, 2008
This review is from: The Host (Plastic Comb)
I love the approach and direction taken with this book. Too many writers now assume the reader wants to identify with the monster, to understand it's actions and even see it as a sort of missunderstood antihero. It's refreshing to see a monster treated as a monster.
