Hostage by Willo Robert Davis,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hostage (Turtleback)
Hostage by Willo Davis Roberts was a fairly well written book. Although the story, kept me on my toes, it was written for a young reader. I would recommend this book to kids who are younger and would like a good book. It started off with some dull factors which I didn't find interesting. As the book gradually progressed, it kept coming out with material that would catch me off guard, therefore, leaving me in suspense. This book is about a little girl, Kaci Dummond, who wishes to get any sort of excitement in her life. After a robbery took place in her neighborhood, the family does not feel safe and decides to move. They then decide to move to a place called Lofty Cedar Estates looking for a safer environment. One day, Kaci has to come home to pick up her allergy medicine and realizes that is it not as safe as she thought. She comes home to find out that her house has been robbed and the robbers are still in the house. She realizes that she is in for more of an adventure than she would have ever thought about. The robbers stumble across Kaci and take her into captivity. Upon leaving and taking merchandise from the house, the neighbor sees the burglars, which forces them to take the neighbor as well. The robbers then leave and start off to a abandoned warehouse. They take the items and pawn them off to other crooks in a smuggling ring. Kaci, as bright as she is, decides to try and escape. She is successful and decides to run towards the nearest town. She tries to talk to the people of the town and they do not believe her about what is going on. Kaci then decides to take matters into her own hands and rescue the neighbor. As the book progressed I became more attached to it every word. Within the last couple of chapters, the book leaves you wondering about what is going to happen. As a fellow reader, I am a person who likes this kind of suspense. If you are into books that catch you off guard, this is a book that I would suggest you read.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hostage (Paperback)
This book was some amazing that i would recmend this book for all ages. This book is about a girl named Kaci. Kaci loved scary movies. She loved when the hairs all over her body stood stright. She loved adventures. .Kaci always wondered why nothing ever exciting happened to her. So Kaci wished for something exciting to happen to her. Kaci always thought that she would be ready for an adverture if one ever came along. But, she didn't know how stupid of an idea that was until one came along. Kaci had an allergy attack in school and had to go home and get her medicane (which was nasil spray). She had nocticed that her front door was unlocked and that there were big boxes in her house. Was something getting delivered she wondered? Anyway she went up into her bedroom to get the spray when she noticed that her lamp was missing. She checked in her sisters'but did not find it. But, when she went into her brothers' room she found that his radio was missing to. then all of a sudden Kaci heard vocies. when she perred downstaries she couldn't believe her eyes. She had saw buglars. They wer talking about the stuff that they were going to take. They were talking about taking the piano. So one of the buglars went upstairs to get cloths to cover up the piano (so it would not get scratched). Kaci had thought the buglar had went downstairs, so she got out of her hiding place. but to her suprise he found her. when they were ready to leave they took her with her. What will happen to Kaci? Will she survive? Find out when ypu read this great book Hostage!!Katie

Hostage,
By A Customer
This review is from: Hostage (Hardcover)
This is a story about a sixth grader named Kaci Drummond who's family is moving into a new neighborhood. The main reason she is moving is because her old neighborhood is dangerous and many families are being robbed. So the Drummonds move to Lofty Ceders and are just getting settled. Their new neighbor is a bit annoying and is always asking questions and being nosy. Kaci doesn't like her at all. Anyway, one day, Kaci gets her allergies in the middle of school, forcing her to go home to get her nasal spray. But when she enters the house after a long chat with the nosy neighbor next door, she finds herself in a lot of trouble she never bargained for.

What's it like to be Hostage,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hostage (Paperback)
The most fascinating story of the year is Hostage by Willo Davis Roberts. Hostage is about a girl named Kasey who walked in on her house being robbbed. She hid, but they soon found her. Scared of what to do they dragged her out of the house and took her with them. I believe this book's theme is to never give up, be brave, strong and patient durning rough times. Willo Davis Roberts wrote many other stories along with Hostage. She writes many books with alot of suspense just like this story. I figure this is just another book to add to her collection, althouh each book is different and unique in it's own way. Many things have been said about Willo's books such as "her suspense keeps me always intrested!" Willlo Davis Roberts books are open to a wide varity of audiences. Mostly for those who like to read books with alot of suspense and sometimes needing to come up with your own endings for the story.

A Reveiw of "Hostage",
By
This review is from: Hostage (Paperback)
In "Hostage", by Willo Davis Roberts, the main character is Kaci, she is an average 11 year old who loves to read mysteries and suspenseful stories. She has a 15-year-old brother named Jeff who loves to play piano and is exceptionally good for his age. Kaci also has two younger siblings, Jodie, who is very neat, and Wally who is the opistite of Jodie, a complete mess. All the children convince their parents to move to Lofty Cedars, a new housing complex. The first person Kaci meets in Lofty Cedars is her nosey neighbor, Mrs. Banducci. On Kaci's first day of Middle School, she has an allergy attack, and is forced to go back to her house to get her allergy medication. While Kaci is upstairs she hears voices in the house. She then realizes that these voices belong to three men who are robbing her house of all its new possessions. When the robbers go upstairs they find Kaci hiding in fear and tie her up so that she can't run away. When Mrs. Banducci comes over, being the nosey person she is, they capture her too. The robbers take Kaci and Mrs. Banducci to a strange place, while they are blindfolded in the back of their truck. Kaci thinks that Mrs. Banducci will mess up her escape, but in the end she ends up providing much needed aid to Kaci. This book kept me entertained and wondering what would happen next.

An Adventure Book That Will Keep You Guessing!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hostage (Paperback)
I read this book when I was in the car driving to my grandparents house. I love mystery but I had not found the perfect book for me. Generally they would be boring or not very scary. I liked this book because it put the main character in almost a life/death situation. Kaci is a normal girl around 11 and she loves adventure. Kaci comes home to get her allergy medication and she comes upon her house being burglarized. Kaci begins to panic because the only phone is downstairs and she is upstairs. Kaci tries to escape but she is caught. How will Kaci escape? Will she get hurt? Will she die? To answer all of these questions read "Hostage" by Willo Davis Roberts.

Kaci has to free herself from robbers,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hostage (Paperback)
Kaci Drummond loves reading mysteries and other exciting stories. She has a little brother, named Wally, who is really messy, a little sister, Jodie, who is very neat, and everything she owns is pink and white checked with ruffles, and an older brother, Jeff, who is just an ordinary 15 year old boy who loves playing piano. They are moving to Lofty Cedar Estates, a subdivision near town. They meet one neighbor, Mrs. Banducci, who is very nosy and needs to know everything that is going on in everyone else's lives. One day at school, Kaci gets a very bad allergy attack, so she goes home to get her medicine. When she gets there, there are robbers. Mrs. Banducci comes over to see what is going on. Because Mrs. Banducci and Kaci have seen the robbers' faces, they will either kill them or kidnap them. I like Kaci because she is a lot like me; she likes reading mysteries. Even though she was terrified when the burglars found her, she did the right thing, which was trying to call the neighbors or leave a note for her parents. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes exciting books. It was so exciting, I could hardly put it down, especially towards the end when she tries to escape.

Hostage Captures Attention,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Hostage (Paperback)
Hostage captures attention
If you like mystery books then pick up a copy of Hostage, by Willo Davis Roberts. It's not only a mystery book in some parts they are funny. I recommend this book for people in the age group of any older than ten years old. This book Hostage is about a happy family that is moving out of their neighborhood. And a girl named Kaci notices a strange car going by in their new neighborhood. She had also seen the same car in her old neighborhood. And the people who were in that car had robed the people that lived next door. So when day when she was walking to school she forgets something so she goes back to get it. Suddenly while she was at her house from walking back home from school, she looks outside the window and sees that same car she saw passing by her new neighborhood. It was parked outside her house. She quickly hides so the thieves won't find her. And the rest is for you to find out yourself to read it. This book is exiting the whole time you're reading it. You get descriptions good so you imagine as if it were real life. The ending turns out to be great. It may not be true but it feels like it. The genre of this book is fiction. But I say fiction books have a lot of more imagine to it than non-fiction. |
