Review

Hostile Takeover is essential reading for anyone looking to understand how individual freedom can prevail in a world of decentralized information. Matt Kibbe and this book provide us all with a roadmap on how to take back our lives, liberties, and responsibilities. ” (GLENN BECK)

“Matt Kibbe is a warrior for the cause of limited government. He is a citizen activist who makes sense, and his well-researched and passionately argued book is a strong addition to the discussion that will eventually define the constitutional balance between government and people- power.” (GERALDO RIVERA)

“Matt Kibbe brings an intellectual foundation to the national outcry for limited government. Hostile Takeover proves we come armed and prepared for battle, and that we are prepared to fight in the arena of ideas.” (SENATOR RAND PAUL (R-Kentucky))

“Few understand the decentralized nature of politics today like Matt Kibbe. In Hostile Takeover, is a must read for anyone trying to understand where the freedom movement is going next.” (SENATOR MIKE LEE (R-Utah))

“If you want to know how the free market can bring about prosperity when it is free of the heavy hand of government central planners, Matt Kibbe has a gift for you. It is the refreshingly readable Hostile Takeover.” (JUDGE ANDREW P. NAPOLITANO, Senior Judicial Analyst, Fox News Channel)

From the Back Cover

A rebellious challenge to the "upper management" of government, who are choking American prosperity and liberty

The American enterprise grew exceptional based on the founding principles of individual freedom, decentralized knowledge, and accountable, constitutionally limited government. But our "leaders" from Washington, D.C., have systematically replaced the dispersed genius of America with top-down dictates and expensive schemes designed to expand the power of insiders and protect the privileged positions of politicians, bureaucrats, and their cronies.

Freedom, not centralization

"Decentralized freedom" has become the strategy that will return America to its founding values, breaking up centralized government's monopoly on power and returning it to where it belongs: with We the People.

Senior management has failed us. It's time to clean house.

In Hostile Takeover, bestselling author Matt Kibbe exposes the privileged collusion of Washington insiders—and maps out a proven plan for how to return power from the self-appointed "experts" back to the people. Dubbed "one of the Tea Party's masterminds" by Newsweek, Kibbe reveals how grassroots citizens can and will check the federal behemoth and restore the American enterprise to its founding principles.

More About the Author

Matt Kibbe is the President and CEO of FreedomWorks, a national grassroots organization that serves citizens in their fight for more individual freedom and less government control.

An economist by training, Kibbe is a well-respected policy expert, bestselling author and political commentator, and a regular guest on CNN, Fox News, The Blaze TV and MSNBC. He also serves as Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Austrian Economic Center in Vienna, Austria.

Dubbed "the scribe" by the New York Daily News, Kibbe is author of Hostile Takeover: Resisting Centralized Government's Stranglehold on America, (2012) and coauthor of the New York Times bestseller Give Us Liberty: A Tea Party Manifesto (2010). His most recent book, "Don't Hurt People and Don't Take Their Stuff" was released on April 1, 2014.

According to Slate Magazine, "Kibbe...looks like Billy Bob Thornton cleaned up for a Job interview," and is prone to wonkish pronouncements regarding music, philosophy and beer.

Terry, his awesome wife of 27 years, takes no responsibility for his many mistakes or frequent embarrassments.

This book is a great rallying cry for anyone who realizes how bad things are in Washington and wants to do something about it. It is a bit schizophrenic as it bounces from problem to solution back to problem and solution again. But, overall, this book will give you an excellent picture of what's wrong with our system and how to fix it. In short, Kibbe states that the central problem is central government (top-down hierarchy) and its inability to quell spending. The solution is grass-roots activism (bottom-up individualism) and the kind of ingenuity and industry that it creates.

Progressives and leftists will not like this book and will probably not be convinced of the argument. You have to take a few assumptions before reading. If the first paragraph of this review did not make you cringe, then you might well enjoy this book.

All-in-all, Kibbe provides an awesome addition to a growing list of powerful Tea Party-inspired, minimal government books that are reshaping our intellectual landscape. Another one I would whole-heartedly promote is Juggernaut: Why the System Crushes the Only People Who Can Save It, which will also serve as intellectual footing for the coming hostile takeover.

It's a time for choosing, America!

Hostile Takeover is A brilliantly articulated account of why the bottom-up track to freedom IS the way back for America. Matt Kibbe shows us so clearly why we must grab our country back from the top-down system that has stripped us of our freedom. If we don't listen to him now we will face the consequences in spades later. This is a must read and shows us the true value of the activism which Kibbe has engaged so effectively on behalf of all of us. We all have a great deal to learn from this book.

If this book doesn't motivate you to want to take our country back, you are part of the problem. Maybe you are one of those who deals not in goods or services, but in favors and gets richer by political pull rather than work.

But, maybe you are disgusted that the Occupy folks crap on the ground, receive tax dollars and political favors to support their cause while the Tea Party must pay insurance to hold a rally, be careful to not step on the grass, and are wrongly accused of using the N word. Maybe you understand that the holocaust happened because people just like us ignored the problem.
If so, read this book and get involved. Time is running out.

I am a Certified Fraud Examiner that is using my skills to help the Tea Party. I researched Senator Lugar and other RINOs for the Tea Party. You have a skill that will be useful in helping the cause. Be a patriot.

The Kibbe book is a good start and will help you understand the road ahead.

As the Bush haters who developed the brilliant 2008 referendum that brought this Amateur into the White House, "If you are not concerned about our country you are not paying attention.
Obama and his Chicago thugs are trying to create Chicago politics on a national scale demonstrated so well by Pelosi who said about ObamaCare " you will know about it when you read it" and most recently by Obama's exercise of executive privilege to prevent Eric Holder from telling us about the massive screwup of the botched Fast and Furious plan in the Southwest.
Kibbe outlines the signs and the indications that this president intends to shove his agenda down our throats. Obama is following the writings of Saul Alinsky in his book Rules for Radicals.
He is declaring the private sector is "fine" and that bigger government would make our lives easier, more cost efficient, and much more effective.
Those that are paying attention know that this is 180 degrees from the truth when the USPS needs $ 12 billion per year to compete with FedEx and UPS, Amtrak is a joke, the VA treats our veterans as though they were cattle, etc. etc.
Kibbe's book is scary but an early warning to those blinded by the charisma of a clever but scheming president with a much larger agenda.

Matt Kibbe's book is very eye-opening. His writing style makes it very easy for everyone to understand what is wrong with the path our Country is on now. Although some would prefer an armed revolt, Matt's 'Hostile Takeover' is not calling for the use of guns. It is calling for all citizens to stand up and be counted. In other words, do your homework on the candidates. Find out which ones are truly for limited government. He's not just talking Federal elections. State, city, and county elections matter. Find the candidates who are not just giving lip service in order to get your vote. Please become an informed voter.

As Rand Paul says in his endorsement of "Hostile Takeover," "Matt Kibbe proves the Tea Party can be smart, funny and hip." Matt's book is a well written, thoroughly researched, enjoyable and most enlightening read. It discusses the problems with top down government solutions as opposed to bottom up grass roots solutions. Even Ronald Reagan with his fantastic ideas and reforms was a top down government man. Because of this, many of his reforms didn't last. We need less government intervention in many areas including education, healthcare, regulations on business, overhaul of the tax system, a complete audit of the Federal Reserve, a Balanced Budget Amendment and more. In short we need to once more embrace the founders ideas of limited government. America is on the edge of steep, no bottom in sight precipice. As Jim Demint's most excellent book contends, "It's now or never." Their is no more road to kick the can down. We are over 16 trillion dollars in debt as I write this and calling a spade a spade are bankrupt. One thing I so very much appreciated about the book is that Kibbe not only details the problems, but also provides common sense solutions to our financial woes. It leaves you with hope that as dire as the present situation is things can be turned around.

Kibbe also exposes the lies told by big government advocates in both parties to get you to believe they are smarter than you (know what is best for you better than you do) and get you to buy into their socialist programs. I think the central thesis of the book is summed up by Kibbe's statement, "Don't hurt others and don't take their stuff." For example, how much of our hard earned money has the Federal Government taken from Americans to finance Social Security which they call a welfare program?
