5.0 out of 5 stars A hidden masterpiece
I first heard Hot Action Cop on the end of the "Real Cancun" movie when they showed a clip of them playing. I had never heard of them prior to this, and I doubt a lot of people have ever heard of them, hence the title of my review. Anyways, I thought "Fever for the Flava" was a real good song, very catchy and pretty different, so I decided to check...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK
I liked about half of the songs and didn't care for the other half. So I'd say this CD is only ok

5.0 out of 5 stars A hidden masterpiece, June 10, 2003
This review is from: Hot Action Cop (Audio CD)
I first heard Hot Action Cop on the end of the "Real Cancun" movie when they showed a clip of them playing. I had never heard of them prior to this, and I doubt a lot of people have ever heard of them, hence the title of my review. Anyways, I thought "Fever for the Flava" was a real good song, very catchy and pretty different, so I decided to check out the rest of the cd. As I listened I found every song to be different from the song before or after it, yet just similar enough so you could tell it was the band playing. They have a sound all their own, with quite the large influence of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Also you'll notice through some songs (Doom Boom, Show Her etc.) that Rob does a Shaggy-like impression which adds to the songs. They are a talented band and are worth a listen. Lyrics are also very good and well crafted, although they may be a bit too raunchy for some people. I wouldn't recommend the edited version however, because it really takes away from a lot of the songs. Overall this CD is very solid, w/ my favorite songs being: Doom Boom, Fever For The Flava, Why Judy, Busted and In A Little While. Get this CD if you want a good one to throw in your car stereo and just cruise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dig a little deeper, April 22, 2005
This review is from: Hot Action Cop (Audio CD)
There are simply too many people out there that take music way to serious and there are those who want to lump everybody into a certain category. I'm a person that likes music that is just pain out FUN! Yea, HAC is a little bit Rap Rock...but there are so many other influences that you can hear such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, Porn music (yea the album is a little dirty), etc. I don't think Limp Bizket or Linkin Park at all when i listen to these guys. They are their own band.

This album is not one that your kids will study in their music appreciation class but I bet they will still be able to groove to it. So i give it 5 starts because when i'm driving its a great album to put the windows down and turn the stereo up.

I first heard about these guys when I heard 2 of their songs (predictably enough, "Fever for the Flava" and "Goin' Down On It") on the soundtrack to EA Games' "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2" and loved both of them. I bought that game in the fall of 2002, and was forced to remain content with only those samples of their music until this album came out March 4, 2003. Moral of the story guys: release your albums in a more timely fashion. Needless to say, I bought it promptly, and fell in love with it from the word go.
Now, I admit I'm not a huge fan of most of the stuff that's similar to this (Chili Peppers, et al), but this album really got its claws into me. I've heard a lot of people say this sort of rock is somewhat trite and dated, but I couldn't disagree more. Every song is just as memorable as the last, and each has its own unique flava (hahaha...couldn't resist). I've listened to this CD so many times I'm surprised it hasn't melted by now, and they all sound just as awesome as the first time I heard them. With so many bands these days, songs begin to blend together, but Hot Action Cop's music seems to defy this stereotype. No song of theirs could honestly be mistaken for another if you've ever actually listened to this album.
As I'm beginning to run out of awesome things to say about these guys (I'm only human), I'll bring this to a close. My final verdict is, if you've ever heard these guys before and you liked what you heard, don't hesitate; buy this album. You will not regret it. And if not, I would say go ahead and buy it anyway. Give it a chance. Chances are, this album will really grow on you.

4.0 out of 5 stars I TOO HAVE A FEVER FOR THE FLAVA, June 18, 2008
This review is from: Hot Action Cop (Audio CD)
I would like nothing more than to bring massive hate down on this CD, however, as much as I would like to, I can't. Sure, it's Rap-Rock, which in my review for 'Hybrid Theory' I stated has repeatedly proven itself to be a reprehensible b^st^rd. However, this is not your typical Rap-Rock, as it is infused with a bit of funk and quite a bit of fun. I mean just look at the cover art, this alone should give you a good idea of what you're in for. I think the only thing this music aspires to be is entertaining and fun, and that's exactly what it is. And unlike Linkin Park this Rap-Rock is devoid of contrived lyrics and any of their off-putting pretentious bull$h!+, and the musicianship here is markedly better.

No, this stuff isn't deep, nor does it demand your undivided attention, but so what, if I want full immersion I can listen to Pain Of Salvation, Porcupine Tree or the like. Furthermore, there's really not a bad song on this CD, so if you check your brain at the door there's really no reason for you not to enjoy it. I recommend this CD to anyone who likes Rock, can tolerate Rap, and just wants something funky and fun to listen to.

By the way, I've never been able to shake the fever. But like Uncle Ted (Nugent) says; "It's nothin' dangerous, I feel no pain."

This CD is by far one of the best albums I have heard in a very long time. There is a great mix of all types of music from rock to puck to ballads and parody songs. The band had a unique style and funky edge. All around great music!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars wow, March 17, 2003

These guys are a refreshing addition to the music world these days. I first heard of Hot Action Cop when i went to a concert locally in Richmond VA and they had sample CDs. We took one and at first didnt really know what to think of them, it didnt take but a minute for my best friend and i to put the 3 track sampler on repeat. I bought the Cd and they most definately rock my world. And to those who are writing negative things...to each his own...people may disagree with music that you are listening to

This is the first cd I can remember listening to where I enjyoed every single song. The songs are just unbelieveably catchy. HAC sounds like nothing I've ever heard before. Some may complain that their style varies too much, but it's a refreshing change to me. It also helps that the band started up in my hometown of Nashville. Maybe now we'll be known for more than just country music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Hot Action Cop, April 28, 2003
This review is from: Hot Action Cop (Audio CD)
Before I begin my review, I would just like to thank the person who purchased this CD for me through my amazon.com wishlist. It was a very nice (and generous) thing for you to do. So, thanks. :)

Okay, now the review. One word can be used to describe this CD: fun. I heard the song "Fever for the Flava" on the radio a few weeks ago, and it grabbed my attention. It was extremely catchy, but I couldn't figure out who it was I was listening to. This is because Hot Action Cop is a little bit Red Hot Chili Peppers (reminiscent of their "Give it Away" song), and a little bit Limp Bizkit (complete with the nookie references). Surprisingly, I don't like either band, but I love Hot Action Cop. I was going to give it only 4 stars, but that was before I really listened to it. Now, I can't give it any less than 5. Even though they sound like other bands, they've got an eclectic sound all their own. For instance, on songs such as "Fever for the Flava", they have a rock/hip hop sound, while with "The Special", they show they have a softer side. My other favorite song on the CD is "Show Her", which is kind of a mix of "Fever for the Flava" and "The Special". Even though I mostly listen to those 3 songs, I found the whole disc enjoyable. If you're a fan of either Red Hot Chili Peppers or Limp Bizkit, you should probably check this band out. Or, even if you don't like those other groups, you should still give Hot Action Cop a listen.
