Not What I Wanted
When I bought this book I wanted something with innovative bass flies, perhaps some background and history of them, tips on how to fish them and, most important of all, instructions on how to tie these flies. This book delivers on the first three counts but fails on the third. Instead of telling you how to make these flies it tells you where to buy them. Because of this...

Fantastic book very well laid out, but one good fly I found missing from the book "The Gurgler" I just thought it would be a must have Hot Fly!

When I bought this book I wanted something with innovative bass flies, perhaps some background and history of them, tips on how to fish them and, most important of all, instructions on how to tie these flies. This book delivers on the first three counts but fails on the third. Instead of telling you how to make these flies it tells you where to buy them. Because of this it strikes me as an infomercial or a catalog. Because of that I'd give this book a pass.

While no fly fishing book can have every fly for the target species, this one covers a great deal of ground. Excellent descriptions an well-thought out categories make this an essential book for the warm-water fly angler.
