This review is from: Hot Blood (Sins) (Harlequin Presents, No. 1852) (Paperback)
This book is rather unusual book for a Harlequin Book. Fist off the h was 52 and the H was a few years older( never got the age) They both were grandparents. So that alone makes this book different. The book starts off with the h in a movie by herself where she meets a neighbor, Joe. He is 10 years younger and is attracted to the h. They end up having a drink and she tells him she is in a relationship with someone. I thought the h was not very nice to Joe at first, she came off being rather short, almost angry with the poor guy. Then we get to meet up with the H, how you may ask??? He was asking another girl (Cary) out, when h walks up on him. So leads up into the tension of the book. She evidently had asked H to become more serious with their relationship and he was angry cause he did not want a commitment, he wanted his freedom (his words), So through the rest of the book you read about h going out on dates with Joe, dinners, fishing, and cafes. While The H takes Cary out on dates and having dinners at her place plus a week away to Scotland to "find some antiques". (WINK WINK) Well then when H comes back he shows up to h's flat and she was just showing Joe out. H makes his presence known and the H and h have it out. H claims that nothing happened with Cary cause it was a business trip! Same tension and another week later, h is out on date and H waiting for her cause her son and daughter in law were in an accident. They rush to them.. Hours away. They end up sharing a hotel room, they end up doing the deed and h is very upset cause she did not want the H to touch her, He tells her he loves her and she actually tells he does not. Having sex does not equate to love. He begins to tell the h about his marriage and his dead wife and all that had been wrong. What had happened to his wife and why he could trust. But he does tell the h that he was in love with he long before they ever got together. they kiss and make up. They bring the grandkids back home, he ask the h to marry him The End. So what Happened to Cary you might ask??!!! hmmmmm good question, I would gladly answer it if Ms Lamb had actually gave us closure. Good Grief I can not begin to tell you how many books I have read from her where she does not tie things up.... the many mysteries of life I would think. Is Elvis Alive?? Are there Aliens?? What happened to Cary?? I guess we will never know.
