4.0 out of 5 stars Passionate family drama
The title HOT BOYZ had me thinking of a steamy bad boy relationship story,
but that was not the case. While this story is about three severe brothers
who are categorized as hot boys, and the scenes flowing through the pages
are indeed sizzling, this is a gripping story about family and trust.

Wanting to stay true to their roots, the Wilson brothers...

3.0 out of 5 stars Hot Boyz? How About Lukewarm Men
I found this one on the discount shelf of my favorite book store. I was expecting something alot more fiery based on the title. What I got was a long and drawn out story about a family who has to pick up and move on when a tragedy occurs in the home of one of the brothers. I never really got into this story. It certainly wasn't a page turner, but it was well written...

The title HOT BOYZ had me thinking of a steamy bad boy relationship story,
but that was not the case. While this story is about three severe brothers
who are categorized as hot boys, and the scenes flowing through the pages
are indeed sizzling, this is a gripping story about family and trust.

Wanting to stay true to their roots, the Wilson brothers still live in
Ladera Heights, California. Pro Golfer Mason, the oldest of the three, is
an excellent role model with money, the respect of the sports world and a
wonderful family. He has the complete trust of his wife, who is adamant about
her belief in his fidelity. She is unshakable until she finds a strand of
hair that's too long and too auburn to be hers. Claude is a successful
realtor in Black Beverly Hills, and the most confused of the three brothers.
Two years earlier his girlfriend was shot and killed by a jealous lover.
Surrounded by controversy, he marries her best friend, but Claude is still
holding on to memories of the girlfriend. Now his wife is wondering if
theirs is a marriage of guilt, convenience or love? Finally there's Torino,
confirmed bachelor and manager of Mason's club, Foreplay. The club is the
perfect forum to maintain a revolving door atmosphere with the women in his
life. But Torino is not the aloof brother he portrays.

At a glance their lives are enviable, but beneath the surface are secrets
that could shatter three perfect dreams and shake a family to its core.

A legacy of infidelity threatens everything they have worked so hard to
obtain.

Marissa Monteilh has written a mature, emotional story that exposes deep
family wounds. Her secondary characters are strategically placed and add
necessary drama which increases the story's girth. HOT BOYZ rings with
passion and realism which draws readers into the character's lives and
shares the healing that comes only through honesty and love. This is a
powerful novel of the commitment to and the sanctity of family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fame, fortune and family drama, October 25, 2004
This review is from: Hot Boyz (Paperback)
The Wilson brothers of Ladera Heights, California are Hot Boyz. Mason is a successful, professional golfer with big bank, a huge mansion, luxurious cars, and a gorgeous wife and two kids. Mason's problem is he neglects his family because he spends so some much time on the golf circuit. Claude is fine as frog hair split three ways with his NBA build and classy style. Claude owns the most successful realty business in the area but can't get over the drama of a past relationship. Then there is Torino, the baby brother, tall and handsome with a smile that will take your breath away. Torino has big dreams but no finances to back them. So, in the meantime, Torino manages Mason's club, Foreplay, until something better comes along.

The outside world believes that the Wilson brothers have it all -fame, fortune, stunning women, and all the status that goes along with it. The secrets of their ideal existence start to threaten their big balla lifestyles. As the skeletons fall out of the closet, the family has to reach down to the core of its existence to maintain its closeness. The women behind the Wilson brothers pull them through. Mason's wife, Mercedes, closes the distance in the relationship with her husband while maintaining her high profile job and careful watch over their children. Claude's wife, Venus, takes the time to mourn for her friend and realizes that her marriage is worth saving. Torino finally leaves his player days for Sequoia. Sequoia is a professional sista with no nonsense ghetto flava that turns Torino from his player days to monogamous lover.

Hot Boyz is a great story that piques your interest right from the start. The tales of death, family drama, and potential stalker girlfriends and mistresses keeps you on the edge of your seat. Hot Boyz is a tale about family and the importance of staying together no matter what happens. Even though the book isn't as urban as I thought it would be it is definitely worth reading. The author does a fantastic job drawing you into the character's lives while keeping you guessing on their next move. Get ready to be entertained because you won't believe what happens in the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars intriguing contemporary tale, April 29, 2004
This review is from: Hot Boyz (Paperback)
In Ladero Heights, California, few families could match the success of the three Wilson brothers. Mason is a wealthy successful golf pro married to a lovely woman and father to two delightful teens. Married Claude is the king of realty in the area as well as women even doing a ménage de trois. Finally the youngest Torino runs Mason's golf club, Foreplay and lives up to that name with any honey he wants.

Beneath the veneer of success lie problems of disappointment and mistrust by their main women. Mason spends more time at the links than he does with his wife and kids. Claude's wife, fed up with his wolfing, dumps him. Torino has found the woman he wants forever, but his record as a rake makes him unacceptable to his beloved. Each of the siblings must find their own path to plead with their loved ones to forgive their sins, but the road is rocky and filled with detours many of which are self imposed foibles.

HOT BOYZ is an intriguing contemporary tale that showcases the downside of success in which if the person is not careful he (or she) could lose sight of what matters in life. The story line focuses on six prime characters, the three siblings and their main woman. Though quite a handful to keep track of, marvelous Marissa Monteilh insures each has a unique personality and is fully developed so that the audience can comprehend the cross the Bennett brothers must bear if they want their loved ones back. Fans will enjoy this relationship drama that breaks par over the entire eighteen holes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bring the Drama, April 9, 2007
This review is from: Hot Boyz (Mass Market Paperback)
There are no siblings more charmed than the Wilson brothers of Ladera Heights, California. Fine and famous pro golfer Mason has money, respect, a beautiful, loving wife and two wonderful teenage children. Claude's the most successful realtor in the "Black Beverly Hills." And handsome, carefree "baby boy" Torino, who runs big brother Mason's club, Foreplay, can pick and choose the honeys he wants to share his time and his bed with.

But beneath the surface of ideal lives are secrets that could shatter three perfect dreams and shake a family to its core. Legacies of loss and obligation, of tragedy and madness, threaten everything the Wilsons have worked so hard to achieve, exposing deep, raw, and devestating wounds that an outside world cannot see--wounds that can be healed only through honesty and love.

The characters in this book seemed believable. I felt sorry for them at times and laughed hysterically with them at others. The brothers in this book had it going on...the type of men any woman would love to be with. Even still, no one is perfect and this family is riddled with problems. Marissa Monteilh brought the drama in this book. It did not disappoint.

This book was the best. Hot Boyz gives every emotion that could possibly be envoked by one single human being. You will want to cry, laugh, scream, and holla! The characters are so real and every person can relate to something in this storyline. Not many authors have the ability to entertain and give a message all at the same time. Hot Boyz does just that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot Boyz Hot Boyz..........They on Fire!, September 14, 2004
This review is from: Hot Boyz (Paperback)
I loved this book. These 3 brothers have it going on. Tall, handsome, successful, wealthy, and fine. The Wilson brothers(Mason, Claude, Torino) deal with love, life, and trying to stay on top. Although, it's not an easy job they manage to do it with style. A book about strong black men and the trials they face with dignity. I guarantee you will love this book. I couldn't put it down and you won't be able to either. I can hardly wait for her next book, especially if it's as hot as this one.

I absolutely loved this book. It had twists, turns, surprises and kept me in suspense all throughout the book. I read this one in one day - and I love books that can keep me enthralled like that. This is the first book I have read by Monteilh and I am looking forward to reading her other works. She created characters that were real, sexy, well-created, and with whom I could identify on so many levels. The situations were also very real and I love the way the book ends. I give this book 2 thumbs up and would recommend it to any book club or avid reader looking for an entertaining book to read!
