5.0 out of 5 stars Albert Collins
Groovy stuff, nice live atmosphere. Wouldn't play in the car but plays ok on my home stereo CD player.

"The Cool Sound Of Albert Collins" is one of Albert's greatest records (if not THE best). It's a studio album, not live. It was out-of-print for a long time, but was re-released in the early 90's as "Truckin' With Albert Collins". It's the exact same recording, no idea why they changed the title to something that lame. If you're an Albert C. maniac, this is the one to get. AWESOME record. Never loved the Alligator stuff as the production was too clean.

This record is clearly a bootleg from a live show. Terrible sound quality, but Albert is playing some smokin' stuff. Worth checking out if you're a player or a huge fan. And remember, this isn't the record Robben Ford recommends. He's talking about what is now titled "Truckin' With Albert Collins".

I saw Albert at a club called Desperado's in Georgetown, D.C. in the early 80's. He had his 100 foot cord, and at one point in the show he walked outside into the middle of M Street and just burned. Still one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen. We miss ya, man.

I bought this on watching a Robben Ford tutorial DVD, he claimed that this is the "best" blues guitar CD ever. Well Robben, while I love your playing, your "taste" is questionable. Yes, great guitar playing but the SOUND...sheeeeeesh....recorded live and sounds it....mushed, grungy, no detail. I would only give this a 1 star, but the man himself and his playing deserves better, so it rates a 3.
