About the Author

A Hot Dry Spell is Henry’s first novel but not his first produced work. Considering himself primarily a screenwriter, Henry has been produced three times at this writing. The horror farce Dead Inn, the award winning Faustian short film, Harmonic Distortion and the topical comedy Off Ramp to Eden. Born in North Carolina and now living back in the Chapel Hill, NC area, Henry has been a life long reader and writer. Starting as a songwriter and having had some success, he branched out into scripting video and feature films. Eventually combining all of his passions by writing scripts that would utilize his music. Regarding A Hot Dry Spell he says, "I have always loved the written word and this work grew out of my love of the language and desire to amuse people." Henry attended Elon University and the North Carolina School of the Arts. He enjoys travel, making music and working on various film projects. His next project will be another illustrated novel featuring a very large and very wise lobster.

After having taught middle school English for 31 years, I know a good read for that age when I see one, and this is it. The alienation of the main character is easily understood by all youth ages 11-15 (and beyond in many cases). These kids typically feel out of place and would totally relate to this story. The English teacher in me really loves the use of figurative language and expanded vocabulary. I highly recommend this book to all ages. It would be a terrific teaching tool (see my inspired alliteration) in the classroom.

Picked this up because it sounded like it would be amusing and different - it was!!!
I don't usually write reviews but enjoyed this book so much I recommended it to my friends. (And you guys!)
This is one of the most original, inventive and fun stories I've ever read. What a find! Kid friendly and they might learn a new word or two without even trying.

This a quick read and full of interesting turns. I enjoyed he character development and corny humor throughout the story. I hope that the story continues and this turns into a series, which will be great for kids. The main character Granger is extremely smart, however, his mission fails in spite of is intelligence. This story tell a tale of human interaction like non other.
